What changed
- UI and audio
- Balance
- Maps
Within the next 24 hours or so you should see an update for Hyperblade on steam. This update will push our release version to the public branch. As outlined in our previous news this new version includes a lot of updates. VR, arena mode, online up to 8 players, crossplay between VR and non-VR. Several new maps, visual effects, a new UI, and lots of other bells and whistles. What does all this mean for Hyeprblade going forward?
Just because we hit a milestone doesn't mean that we're done with the game. We've got additional things that we want to add, balance and expand.
Loose Roadmap
We don't have specific dates for these items, but these are the main areas of focus that we're going to work on for now:
Capture the flag mode - Like the name suggests, we're going to add a capture the flag mode to go along with Arena, combat, and regular races. That means new maps.
Controls - Time permitting we're going to completely overhaul the control scheme for the drones both on keyboard and gamepad (and by extension VR). While they currently "work". We think they could be better. We're going to focus on seeing how close we could make them to real drones, but the game was never intended to be a sim, so we're still consider ease of use.
UI - We'll continue to improve the UI and HUDs based on user feedback.
More drones as well as drone balancing. While we've put in a system to differentiate the drones, we haven't really gotten into balancing them yet, so they currently all fly the same.
We'll continue to make changes based on user feedback as well. If you have issues, troubles, spot bugs, or anything of that nature, do let us know in the discussion forums.
