Highway Hijinks changes
Thank you all for playing Highway Hijinks! For our first update, we have introduced a couple new items, and made a number of tweaks to the game. Several issues have been fixed as well.
Mechanics
Fix turrets being able to fire at player during race countdown
Prevent turrets from firing at player for longer when entering or leaving Pit Stop
Reduce radius of damage given by turret
Slow pad combos are now possible
Items
Rewrite many item descriptions to make them easier to understand and provide more useful information, include energy usage
Replace some item sprites
Abilities
Reduce energy cost of Boost from 40 e/s to 30 e/s
Reduce energy cost of Jump 50 e/u to 15 e/u
Increase shield generation of Protective Coating by 50% , reduce its energy cost from 60 e/s to 50 e/s
Increase slowness of Slow Motion from 50% slow to 60%, reduce its energy cost 60 e/s to 50 e/s
Consumables
Add Overtime, a Consumable that triples the remaining time of all active Statuses
Increase cost of Dentures from $100 to $350, increase the given Hungry status from 10s to 15s
Increase duration of Flatten's effect from 10s to 20s
Increase the gained scrap from Golden Explosion from 2x to 3x, increased its duration from 15s to 20s and its cost from $200 to $350
Make Nuke Rare
Prevent Speedifier from hanging the game if it is activated multiple times in a short period by Efficient Eater and/or Consumerism
Modules
Add Frenzied Fallback, a Module that gives a hefty temporary fire rate and damage buff when your shield is broken
Nerf Combo Killer from 1.5% fire rate increase per kill to 1%
Make the effect of Damage Boost decay over time with a Status, Damage Boost also gives damage relative to speed pad combo, +-20% damage * combo
Buff Deal Finder from 5% to 12.5%
Make Destructive Force Rare, increase its cost $800 to $1200, reduce its effect from 0.25% to 0.2%
Buff Efficient Eater from 4% chance to preserve consumable to 5%
Make Emergency Repairs Uncommon, reduce its cost from $1600 to $1250, make it give temporary invulnerability when activated
Buff Enduring Shield from 15% reduced shield decay to 20%
Buff Energy Converter from (0.5% max energy * speed)/s to (1% max energy * speed)/s
Nerf Energy Harvester from 7 energy per kill to 4, reduce its cost from $1000 to $900
Buff Extra Gear from +25 km/h to +100km/h, increase its cost from $400 to $500
Buff Firearm from 10% chance to ignite enemy to 25%
Nerf Item Thief from 15% chance of a stolen item being a module to 10%
Buff More Gold from 1% chance of thing being gold to 2.5%, improve its probability calculations
Buff Piercing Projectiles from 10% chance of piercing to 33%
Fix Shaped Metal being worse than useless (Weapon power multiplier is no longer 0)
Buff Shield Generator from +20 minimum shield to +25
Buff Soul Harvester from 0.05% damage increase per kill to 0.075%
Buff Vehicular Sabotage from 0.5% chance of sabotaged enemy to 2%(and spell its name correctly)
Make Saw Orbital Rare, increase its cost from $800 to $900, fix the saw being kept if the module is sold
Weapons
Make all guns fire when holding the fire button
Make Ram consume energy at start of parry instead of end, but refund 50% of the energy if the parry is successful. Prevent obstacles from being parried if parry is being extended
Other Changes
Add Steam Cloud support
Add setting for camera shake intensity
Hide mouse cursor during game if the mouse is not moved
Clearly display result of race when player finishes race
Increase font size of item descriptions
HIghlight Vouchers in Pit Stop
Improve user interface navigation in Pit Stop
Change controller button for using secondary ability to D-pad right so both primary and secondary ability can be used at the same time
Fix scrollbar in scroll views not being draggable
Fix scroll views sometimes breaking when scrolling with controller analog stick
Improve appearance of pause screen, game over screen, and Voucher item selection screen
Improve the HUD a bit
Improve appearance of speed lines effect
Adjust appearance of low health/damage/shield gain screen color effects
Add health pickups to end of tutorial
Fix an issue where game is too slow after dying in tutorial
Fix a bunch of things potentially breaking due to exceptions being thrown
Increase intensity of high quality lighting
Add button linking to our Discord server on main menu
Update the credits
