addedLast night i pushed a pretty big update to the server, so if you've got access, please start tearing into it! Some of the highlights: -The Hero Knight is ready to go, you can build him in the Barracks. -If you walk up to a Hero and press "F" (preferably not while he is slaking his sword's thirst for blood) it will pause the game and open his character sheet. Besides his stats, it'll have the Hero's indiviudal skill tree. Right now the Hero has 2 of the 20 skills implemented - Heroic Strike (one time, 25x damage) and Shout (all enemies in range attack the Hero). -The Hero's Tavern is now availble for building. In the Hero's Tavern, you can find quests on which to send your Heroes. Once you send the Hero, he leaves the battlefield and hopefully comes back with loot, resources, military units, or maybe even another hero. Or they might die, so make sure they're suited for the task... -Stamina Bar and Power Bar - Because this is not a survivial game and the focus is on the Heroes and action, I'm not burdening you all with ammo requirements. It would feel contrived and annoying. However, firing your weapon with impunity is no fun either. Enter the Stamina and Power Bars. If you've signed up for the HOI Newsletter, you'll have read about this last week, if not, here's a blurb about the Crossbow: The Crossbow design is standard in the Land of Issachar but foreign to the player - it uses a barrel loading method and a pneumatic firing mechanism powered in part by a biomagical link with the crossbow's owner. As a result, the crossbow can be fired repeatedly, but each shot draws energy from the wielder, impacting stamina in the process. So firing the crossbow uses stamina, but so does sprinting. As you progress, other skills will require stamina too, so hopefully you'll be posed with interesting choices to make on the battlefield. Likewise, the Power Bar controls special abilities. Right now you've got Bullettime and Focused Shot (one shot, 40x damage), with more to come. -Crossbow parts - There are a handful of new Stocks you can find and add to the crossbow. These alter stats like Min and Max Damage, Stamina Cost per Shot, Stamina Regen, Max HP, etc. -There's a new ranged bad guy, for now I'm calling him a dark elf. I'm also accepting submissions for a new name to call him. -Bad guys now ragdoll when they die, which is fun. They're a little stiff, and I intend to localize the physics, but that'll be down the road. -Swordsmen now level up, although these generic units will just get bumps in HP and damage, and won't carry over from province to provice. Heroes will though. I've been sending out regular updates to the HOI mailing list, if you aren't on there, be sure to sign up here: Blue Mana
