This is the first step in our major progression revamp for Heritage. We’re feeling really confident about these changes!
Thank you for all the feedback so far! You’ve been a key part of shaping this update. This patch is a direct reflection of what you’ve shared with us.
And yes… you can finally swap skills and equipment during a run 😄

This patch focuses on overall progression and game balance changes, along with a few visual improvements.
UPDATE to version BETA 1.4.01
Highlights
Steam post image Skill and Equipment replacement screen during a run

[NEW] Skills and Equipment can now be replaced during a run.
[NEW] Post-battle screen now allows enemy and build inspection.
[BALANCED] Healing system reworked around mandatory combats.
[BALANCED] Enemies and bosses received general stat adjustments.
Gameplay Changes
[NEW] A popup allows replacing Skills/Equipment when no slots are available.
[BALANCED] Healing scrolls removed from runs.
[BALANCED] Mandatory combats now grant higher healing.
[BALANCED] Optional combats still do not grant healing.
[NEW] Post-battle screen now requires clicking "Continue".
[BALANCED] Combat XP bonus scaling adjusted across all levels.

[BALANCED] Reroll now has a cost cap (Gold: 2k / Soul: 50).
[BALANCED] Sect relationships are now mirrored.
[BALANCED] Shops now offer Skill/Equipment slot unlocks.
[BALANCED] Mystic Stat bonuses removed from Ancestor’s Hall.
Visuals
[IMPROVED] Battle timer removed.
[FIXED] Fixed Hall Scroll click overlap issue.
Bug Fixes
[FIXED] General UI and interaction fixes.
Specifically in the Ancestor’s Hall, as reported in community discussions, scrolls had incorrect overlap behavior.
Notes
[NEW] Tutorial notification system implemented (initial test with Combat XP).
[IMPROVED] Core game loop reworked with focus on progression and decision-making.
[NEW] Next patch will revamp the Ancestor’s Hall and end-of-run transitions.
[NEW] A new character is coming to the Demo in the coming weeks.
Final Notes
We’ll keep monitoring feedback and refining the game to ensure every run feels fun and consistent. There’s still a lot of work ahead, and we’re on it.
After updating the game, we STRONGLY recommend starting a new run. Previous saves may not reflect the changes correctly and could cause inconsistencies.

What’s Next?
This is the first step of a change we’ve been wanting to make for a long time. We’re really happy to release such a complete patch, and we’ll be focusing heavily on the next one with the Ancestor’s Hall revamp.
