After nearly a year in Early Access, HELLBREAK has officially reached 1.0.
To celebrate, HELLBREAK is launching with its highest discount to date — 40% OFF.
We are not increasing the base price, and we’ve also updated pricing across multiple regions. Countries like Poland, Russia, Ukraine, and Brazil are now adjusted based on Steam’s regional recommendations and our own research to keep things fair for players worldwide.
We’re also incredibly proud to launch with a Very Positive rating, thank you all so much for your support.
If you’ve been enjoying HELLBREAK, this is the perfect time to leave a review. It helps more than you can imagine. [dynamiclink href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/3043760/HELLBREAK/"]
⚔️ WHAT’S NEW IN 1.0
Steam post image🌋 NEW ARENA – ASHCRYPT
[carousel autoadvance="true"]
[/carousel]
A brand new arena has arrived: Ashcrypt.
This arena leans into a darker and heavier atmosphere, with a strong visual tone that contrasts with a lava-driven lower level. The verticality and environmental contrast create a distinct combat flow compared to other arenas.
With Gravehold added during Early Access and now Ashcrypt joining the roster, HELLBREAK features 4 arenas in total, each with completely different themes and visuals.
Arena Updates
We’ve also revisited existing arenas:
Courtyard now includes a new section that expands the arena mid-trial, similar to other arenas. This section also contains helpful power-ups to support your run.
Necropit has received a smaller update, including visual and lighting improvements, along with changes to one of the central platforms.
👑 NEW LORD OF HELL – KHARVEX Steam post image
Your relentless slaughter has drawn attention.
Kharvex has taken notice of your carnage and is here to test your might, and reward you with new tools to continue your rampage.
🔫 NEW WEAPONS
Full launch introduces 2 brand new weapons:
Shellshock – An auto-shotgun designed to tear through everything in front of you with relentless force.
Impaler – A slow but devastating weapon. Charge it long enough to impale demons and pin them against walls.
With these additions — along with the weapons introduced during Early Access — HELLBREAK now features a total of 19 weapons, each offering unique gameplay and build opportunities.
💥 NEW SPELL – SLAM
A powerful new spell joins your arsenal.
SLAM lets you crash down from above with devastating force — powerful enough to make even Gorath jealous. It is especially effective against large hordes of enemies.
With the additional spells introduced during Early Access, the total number of spells is now 12.
🩸 ETERNAL MODE
A brand new mode for slayers with unending bloodlust.
Eternal Mode continues until you die, with difficulty that progressively increases over time. It also features its own dedicated leaderboard.
If you want HELL to know your name, this is where you prove it.
Available for each arena
Unlock by completing a trial on Agony difficulty
☠️ NEW ENEMY & BOSS
Lich – A brand new ranged enemy that introduces a different layer of threat, forcing players to pay closer attention to positioning.
Vulkar the Ashen Crown – The ruler of liches.
Vulkar is our most complex boss to date, featuring a wide variety of unique attacks that can reshape the arena and force players to fight on his terms.
He can be encountered in Ashcrypt and in Eternal Mode.
🔥 FIFTH & FINAL DIFFICULTY – APOCALYPSE
Our hardest challenge yet.
APOCALYPSE difficulty introduces:
New enemy modifier
Increased boss presence
Extremely punishing encounters
Only a few will be able to survive this.
With the addition of this difficulty, the new arena, and Eternal Mode, there are now even more opportunities to earn Hellshards, in fact, more than you can spend… for now.
🧪 CURSE COMBINATIONS
HELLBREAK has 4 unique curses that give you the upper edge in the arena. Previously, only one curse could be active on an enemy at a time. With 1.0, we are introducing a new system that allows these curses to combine, giving you even more build variety and more power over the horde.
Curse combinations can appear as a blessing upon leveling up if you already have access to applying 2 different curses.
For example, if you have a blessing or weapon upgrade that gives access to both Frostbind and Shock, you may be presented with an option to unlock Stormbind, which is the combined version of the two curses.
These combined curses have a higher chance of appearing once the requirements are met, so you do not have to worry too much about missing them during a run.
Unlocking a curse combination will also unlock any blessings that may have previously been blocked due to blessing choices. For example, you can have both the Frostbind and Shock grenade blessings active at the same time, allowing you to directly apply Stormbind with grenades.
This system becomes especially powerful in Eternal Mode, where it is possible to stack dozens of blessings during a single run.
✨ NEW BLESSINGS
In addition to curse combinations, we’ve added 10+ new blessings to expand build variety and give you more ways to approach each run.

⚙️ NEW ACCESSIBILITY OPTION – AUTO-FIRE
We’ve added a new gameplay setting:
Automatically fire when your crosshair is on an enemy
This is a great option for players looking for a more casual experience.
We are still iterating on this feature, so if you use it, please let us know how it feels.
⚙️ CHANGES
🔫 WEAPONS
We went through each weapon to ensure they feel fun, distinct, and impactful.
Alongside general balance changes (damage, fire rate, etc.), several upgrades have been reworked:
- Viper OldReload triggers Inferno explosion New: Reload spreads Inferno to nearby enemies and grants fire rate bonus
- Wretch OldHeadshots deal bonus damage to Blighted enemies New: All shots against Blighted enemies count as headshots
Ravager
Every 3rd grenade hit detonates twice
Every 3rd grenade hit creates a Shock zone
Scorchjaw
Every 4th projectile creates an Inferno zone
Shooting Infernal enemies refunds 1 ammo
📈 PERKS & PLAYER BALANCE
Reduced unlock costs for:
Dash Count 35k → 10k
Grenade Count 35k → 20k
Charged Melee Count 35k → 20k
Increased effectiveness of all perk bonuses such as:
Bonus Damage: 20 → 25
Bonus Health: 25 → 35
Damage Reduction: 20 → 25 and more...
Player adjustments:
Base dash cooldown reduced by 10%
⚖️ BALANCE & PROGRESSION CHANGES
Abyss Difficulty Adjustments
We made some balance adjustments to Abyss difficulty to make progression feel smoother while still keeping the challenge high.
Changes:
Enemy damage and health bonus reduced from 50% → 45%
EXP penalty reduced from -50% → -35%
Abyss should now feel less punishing in terms of progression while still remaining a significant step up in difficulty.
Arena Unlock Progression
We also adjusted how arena progression works.
Gravehold now unlocks with Agony difficulty (second difficulty)
Ashcrypt now unlocks with Torment difficulty (third difficulty)
This means you no longer need to complete every lower difficulty trial in order to access the newer arenas if you do not want to.
Of course, lower difficulties can still be completed to earn additional Hellshards and progression rewards.
🛠️ FIXES
We fixed multiple small and major bugs and glitches across the game.
While there may still be some edge cases we’ve missed, stability and polish have been a major focus throughout Early Access, and we believe the game is now smoother than ever.
If you encounter any issues, please report them and we’ll address them as soon as possible.
🚀 PERFORMANCE
We implemented improvements across nearly every system in the game:
Levels
VFX
AI
Decals
SFX
HELLBREAK is a chaotic and ambitious game, and with the amount of action on screen, performance is critical.
You should now experience:
Better overall FPS
Improved stability
Less impact from heavy effects like explosions and curse zones
Performance scaling across graphics settings is also more consistent now. Even if you don’t notice immediate gains, try increasing your settings — you may get better visuals without major performance loss.
As always, if you run into issues, let us know your specs so we can continue improving.
🔮 WHAT’S NEXT?
With 1.0, we’ve delivered all the content we set out to create during Early Access and more.
But this is not the end.
We still have plans for:
New arenas
New weapons
New spells
More demons
Some of them are already lurking in the shadows… watching to see if you are worthy.
Beyond content, we will continue delivering fixes, balance changes, and improvements many of which will be shaped directly by your feedback.
Everyone who has shared feedback during Early Access has helped shape HELLBREAK into what it is today.
❤️ THANK YOU
Seeing so many of you step into the arena and fight through Hell has been incredible.
We’re proud of what HELLBREAK has become and we still have a long way to go.
If you’d like to support us, please consider leaving a review. It truly makes a difference.
And once again, thank you for the Very Positive rating.
See you in the arena, HELLBREAK Team
