Hearth & Holmes changes
I took a couple of months off of developing Hearth & Holmes to finish a fan game for Baldur's Gate 3.
It's called A Dream of Silence. It did pretty well in the Interactive Fiction Competition, despite being a very weird entry. If you like Baldur's Gate and specifically elven vampires from Baldur's Gate, give it a try.
If you like consulting detectives from London, I'm going to release another sample of gameplay to people on my discord and mailing list in the coming month. I'm looking for feedback on it and I'd love your thoughts.
Here's an update of all the stuff I've gotten done since returning to work on Hearth & Holmes:
---- SEPTEMBER
Updated Naninovel backend and fixed all of the resulting bugs.
Redesigned a number of UIs.
Added custom buttons more appropriate to the Vibe.
Added particle effects to title screen.
Changes various color schemes.
Fixed error where relationships screen was interfering with being able to press buttons. These irrational, emotional ties are interfering with Holmes' work.
---- OCTOBER
Commissioned Irene Norton in disguise and Holmes pointing incisively at something.
Added Irene Norton model, including her dockworker disguise.
Found and added a number of prop and background images.
Finalized 'A Scandal In Austria'
Displayed game at local convention and got more feedback.
Fixed a number of small problems in 'The Hound of Lambeth'
Implemented Scene: COutro Austria
Implemented Scene: Learn Sympathy
Wrote and Implemented Scene: Irene Arrives
Wrote and Implemented Scene: Learn Approach
Fixed case UI to adjust to narrow screens.
Sorted through Creative Commons music that I can use, doing research to make sure nothing is stolen or uses AI (which might have stolen aspects).
Made Holmes capable of nervousness.
Found and added images for correspondence.
Made Holmes' relationships status-bars appear as they are revealed in the story.
Implemented Scene: May Default.
Organized first two months into a playable sequence and fixed a bunch of minor bugs in that sequence.
Fixed the animations in the learning screen.
