Heart of the Machine Roundup
Update #68, the first post 1.0 content patch made some exciting balance changes, added some new content, and of course squashed some bugs. Here is a brief overview of the changes.
Added new instructions on lenses that allow players to view units.
Easier equipment changing, allowing players to right-click a single slot to remove it, and Ctrl + right-click to clear absolutely everything off of all units. These changes make auto equip much easier to use.
Clarification that Mindports are vehicles and that Slum Rescue Drones are a consumable item on the Mindport.
Melee units no longer take overwatch fire from making melee attacks.
The stop DDOS attack contemplation is more stable, staying in one area for 12-16 turns now.
Feeble humans can now escape the nanotech tide in the prologue, allowing pacifist players to be more pacifistic.
Meal distribution storefront provides more meals and consumes more meal kits per turn now.
This list only scratches the surface of the changes and their implications for Heart of the Machine. These updates are full of balance changes, QoL, and clarity for players. Here's a quick look at each one.
Update 69 made it easier to find humans who actually want to talk to you, find the medical pavilion by word search, and Spindletroopers are now drawn fully in color.
Update 70 prevented people from needing double food, added the ability to, on normal or hard mode, complete all exploration sites you have previously done, and allowed the prevention of accidental murderbots.
Update 71 added the ability for players to favorite units for quick selection, as well as a similar system for camera positions, and optimized load and save speed.
Update 72 added some fun new stuff. A new piece of equipment called Viral Bolts allows some good system disruption power a bit earlier upon unlock. There is also a new rapid-destruction option that allows players to quickly delete destroyed or disconnected buildings.
These are only a few of the changes in each of these updates, so make sure to check out any that catch your eye for the full story.
