Heard of the Story? changes
๐พ Custom fields
This update brings a major change to how fields are placed. Unlike structures such as taverns or workshops, areas for farming can vary in size and can be customised to your liking! This was always the intention from the beginning of the game. Now finally, there's a special area-drawing interface after you choose the location of a new field, with which you can either easily quick place a circular shape of varying size, or draw your own custom shape.
Sorry for the delay with this update! It ended up taking longer to implement than expected because of various related issues such as polygon-to-polygon collisions, easy-to-read visualisation, controller support (and the list goes on). It was however, a fundamental step required for the upcoming Autonomy & Governance update. Additionally, I imagine that in the future, this sort of area tool will be used to declare villager plots, parks, grazing areas, special regulation zones, and more.
Let me know what you think :)
Related to this:
You can no longer directly lay paths through fields
Shuffled the building configuration screen a bit so that you can more easily see what you're placing
Made field vegetation appear visually more complete and less sparse
Fixed house garden areas covering parts of vegetation in fields
โ๏ธ Trading
Added a quick buy and quick sell option via right-click or east controller button. The normal scale and goods exchange mode are still useful for the starting out and certain situations, but this quick option is very fun and direct
Completing an exchange no longer takes you out of trading
Added a small hint underneath the villager's inventory to explain all the controls
Added an outline around the trading scales to help visually contrast against the environment as colours often blended together
๐ค Emotions
Added anger impacts from events such as tools breaking, bad crafting outcomes, or playing cards
Balanced emotions overall to make sure villagers are not happy most of the time
Balanced insults such that anyone can make them if they are in a bad mood
๐ Other improvements and bug fixes
Villagers will now remark upon starting a new goal
Sitting at the tavern or campfire with someone else now raises your relationship with them. Additionally for villagers, playing cards also does the same
Added the special wave effect to unlocking new crafting skills too. Added a little smoke particle effect to the stamp-down part of the animation
Added screenshake to masonry carving
Updated the pathing tool to shape around terrain and use different colours depending on the type of ground selected
Fixed all villagers freezing in some rare scenarios
Fixed proficiency in harvesting and the quality of the tool not impacting the outcome
You will now look down on villagers if they're laying down
Fixed villagers sometimes not knowing what to say
Fixed villagers making some grammar mistakes
Fixed villagers not talking about their food goals and these not showing up correctly in the journal
Fixed chairs not being placed at the correct height before re-loading
Fixed placed decorations losing their quality
