Heard of the Story? changes
I decided to include new building signs in this update as a little something for Steam's current Medieval Fest. To me, they're one of the most iconic little features from the middle ages (which you can still see on many old English houses today). Hope you like them! :)
✨ Item quality and proficiency improvements
Added 3 additional types of house signs for villagers to show off their skills. There is now one for each level of proficiency. Each type of sign can show off any competancy (they will have the related item icon embedded into them)
Upon achieving a higher proficiency tier:
Added a small visual effect to the book
You and villagers will now remark your accomplishment
Also:
Fixed villagers sometimes pretending to be proficient at activities they've barely tried
🫂 Hanging around improvements
When villagers observe your activities whilst they are following you around:
They can now comment on whether they like what you are doing
If villagers dislike what you do, they can now react angrily
They can now tell apart the various different gathering and crafting actions you do, and respond specifically to those
And then more generally:
Added the ability for villagers to give useful advice they know while hanging out with you (a little bit as a sort of walking tutorial). This will be more common in the first couple of days, and then less so after that
Villagers will now look at the people they're hanging out with rather than spacing out
Fixed villagers not noticing if you're sitting down at the tavern, campfire, or on a decoration
Fixed relationship effect moving with villager
⛏️ Gathering improvements
Villagers will now consistently prioritise picking up small rocks (not using a pickaxe) if there are any around
Villagers will no longer attempt to try to collect vegetation or resources that aren't available, which should make them seem more fluid in their actions
Balanced:
Significantly increased regrow of wheat
Villagers will no longer try to gather more than 5 redcurrants to prevent certain villagers from monopolising the supply
Fixed:
Villagers sometimes using sheer air force to mine rocks
Rare instances of ghost vegetation sticking around near building constructions
🪰 Other improvements
Smoothed out the contribution, eating, and base crafting effect
Fixed animations for cheering and clapping playing weirdly when someone is moving
Fixed villagers being able to walk through forest mountain boulders on hilly maps
Fixed quiver not appearing in market stalls, hand, or as a mastered building sign
Fixed pliers & ladle not appearing in markets stalls or as a mastered building sign
Fixed water effect not showing when watering plants
Fixed everyone still coalescing to being masters of redcurrants
