Haunted Arcade changes
It is time - three new Arcade Games, making for a total of 7! As you are reading this, we are packing our things, getting going to Cologne and setting up our booth in Hall 10.2. And this also marks our arrival at a version we feel comfortable with calling a Release 1.0!
There are three new Arcade Games, an overworked Arcade Mode, an extended Story and more!
Headlines:
Defenders of Plushville: In this light-gun-game, you find yourself in a mall and need to defend the wholesome build-a-teddy workshop from the Gorgonzola that escaped the supermarket down the hall!!
Laser Bike: Ride down the beach at sundown, enter the city, and end up in space in this transformative racing game!
Sheepy Runs: You want to eat some delicious looking flowers, but the local wolves want to eat some delicious looking you! Evade them in a labyrinth of hedges, and reach the highest score!
Quality of Life:
The Arcade Mode is overhauled - select freely and go in-and-out of them at an instance!
The Story is significantly extended - and actively accurately tracks your current relation to the Ghost!
Bugfixes
Missing or misplaced colliders - no more!
Missing or misplaced markers - no more!
Inaccurate Jumping Witch jump height - no more!
Misplaced Jumping Witch camera - no more!
Ghost did not reach the position in 3D cutscene - no more!
Ghost face flickered back and forth between normal and mad - no more!
Player in Robot Time got stuck on ladders if using a controller as input - no more!
The Hooked on Art and Laser Bike machines had flipped normals - no more!
The heart and cloud particles whenever your relation changes in dialogue got abruptly deleted after a second no more!
And many more fixes! :D
For our future plans, after this week, we need a week or two to recover from Gamescom, and then we will get back to fixing stuff - because this is only a 1.0 after all! Our efforts from now on will primarily focus on polishing, adding juice and fixing any bugs. The only significant new features we are still planning to add to the game are the following:
Memory Items - going around the Arcade Hall, you can look for little hidden items that reveal part of a backstory - a story that will become complete if you find all 7 of them. The concept art, texturing and writing for this feature is done, but the 3D modeling, programming and sound design still need to be finished.
Hooked on Art- we want to fundamentally redesign this Arcade Game, leading to a larger focus on gameplay as well as a satisfying culmination of all elements met throughout your journey - the game design has started for that, but the rest still needs to be done.
