Orthographic Design
I've been working on refining the visual style of my city-building game, and I’ve decided to transition to a cleaner, orthographic-ish look. This update brings a sharper and more structured visual idea to my game whilst maintaining some depth.
Instead of just making the camera a traditional ortho graphic camera, I turned down the FOV to 20 and zoomed the camera out to achieve a look that is similar to true orthographic mode.
Although I'm not happy with the overall color composition, I think it is a step in the right direction.
I am still working on polishing the building creator, adding images for the buttons will be the next step and I am can't wait to add more building parts so players can build their city in what ever style they would like.
A real challenge for this game is keeping it looking good and consistent when zoomed all the way in and when zoomed all the way out. It needs more work and the moon/sun could also do with some love but I will get it looking better.
Additionally I have reworked the UI visuals to be a simple box style with a border, I like the simplicity of this look and believe it fits well within the games styling and plan to add a setting to scale all the UI up or down how the player would like.
