Patch! New Tutorial - More Doing, Less Reading

Do you know who likes reading walls of text?

Pretty much nobody, I think lol.

Some great initial feedback I got was that the game's tutorial requires way too much reading. I think this feedback was spot on, so I reworked the tutorial yesterday and just pushed an update.

The new tutorial focuses on learning by doing rather than reading. There is still some reading, but the "time to fun" is much shorter now and you'll get jump into some light action pretty quickly.

Some fun facts about the new the tutorial:

The Orientation Instructor is no more.

Sorry if you liked him talking your ear off, but alas he has retired. Don't worry though, there are many other Helper Bots to meet throughout The Academy.

This update cut about 1500 words or about 5 minutes of reading I'd estimate.

It's miles, miles better and now I feel like a crazy person for having it the way it was, so thank you again for that feedback. This is exactly the sort of stuff I was hoping to get out of Early Access.

You now get to practice using your Boosters and fighting your first enemies in a safe environment.

I think this is better not just because it's more fun, but also because it provides a better warm-up for the pace of the actual game so that you are not as caught off guard by the difficulty during your first run.

Anyways, this new version of the tutorial is now live, so you should have an update queued on Steam. Honestly I like it so much more than the old version that it might even be fun to replay it and see what's changed if you already played through the Orientation Instructor version.

I've bug bashed the new tutorial on all supported headsets but if you run into any issues or any parts are confusing please let me know via the Steam forums or the Discord. I am around all weekend to quickly resolve any issues 👍
