changedHello Preppers!Rusty has always been by your side, but in this experiment we want to explore what happens if you can upgrade him to become a real contributor on your expedition runs. We’re testing a set of upgrades designed to make solo play more dynamic, more flexible, and a lot more fun.
addedHello Preppers!Rusty Upgrades! You can now boost Rusty's damage , add elemental effects , or even upgrade him with a shotgun .
changedHello Preppers!Rusty Ammo Drop Once per mission, Rusty will now drop a pack of ammo if you run out. This should minimize those painful situations where you might run out of ammo before getting a chance to obtain any ammo consumables.
changedHello Preppers!Changes to Rusty Reviving If you’re unfortunate enough to go down during an expedition, Rusty can still get you back on your feet but now only once per mission . When revived, you’ll return with 50% permanent health and 50% temporary health , giving you a second chance without completely erasing the consequences of going down. This change is aimed at striking a better balance between having a safety net and maintaining meaningful tension throughout a run. With the previous system of multiple persistent revives, we saw situations where players could reach the final encounter with several lives intact, which often made those climactic moments feel less exciting than intended. We’re hoping this adjustment keeps runs tense, rewarding, and satisfying from start to finish.
changedHello Preppers! Our goal is to improve the feel of single-player runs without drastically changing the balance of co-op. As always, we need your feedback to understand how this plays, feels, and scales across missions.

Hello Preppers!

It’s time for a new experiment!

For this round of testing on the Experimental Branch, we’re turning our attention to the single-player experience. More specifically, your faithful companion, Rusty. ⚙️🤖

Rusty has always been by your side, but in this experiment we want to explore what happens if you can upgrade him to become a real contributor on your expedition runs. We’re testing a set of upgrades designed to make solo play more dynamic, more flexible, and a lot more fun.

Here’s what we’re testing:

  • Rusty Upgrades! You can now boost Rusty's damage, add elemental effects, or even upgrade him with a shotgun.

  • Rusty Ammo Drop Once per mission, Rusty will now drop a pack of ammo if you run out. This should minimize those painful situations where you might run out of ammo before getting a chance to obtain any ammo consumables.

  • Changes to Rusty Reviving If you’re unfortunate enough to go down during an expedition, Rusty can still get you back on your feet but now only once per mission.

When revived, you’ll return with 50% permanent health and 50% temporary health, giving you a second chance without completely erasing the consequences of going down.

Our goal is to improve the feel of single-player runs without drastically changing the balance of co-op. As always, we need your feedback to understand how this plays, feels, and scales across missions.

🧪 What is the Experimental Branch?

Think of it as a parallel universe where a different version of Guntouchables lives. It’s where we upload features, tuning passes, and experimental ideas that aren’t quite ready for the main game - but might be with your help.

If you:

  • Like trying new things (even when they break) 💥

  • Enjoy poking at unfinished systems 🙈

  • Don’t mind things getting weird 🥴

  • And want to help shape the future of Guntouchables 📜💖

…then the Experimental Branch is absolutely for you.

If not, no worries! You can stay on the main branch where things are stable and cozy.

🔧 How to Join the Experimental Branch

  1. Right-click Guntouchables in your Steam Library

  2. Select Properties

  3. Go to the BETAS tab

  4. From the dropdown, choose: “Experimental Branch. To test out all the crazy stuff.”

  5. Close the window and Steam should begin downloading

  6. If nothing happens, restart Steam

⚠️ Important: Players on the Experimental Branch cannot matchmake with players on the main branch (and vice versa). Make sure you and your friends are on the same version.

💬 Where to Leave Feedback

We’ve set up a dedicated #experimental-branch channel on our Discord server. That’s where you can drop your impressions, bug reports, and balance thoughts. We’ll be actively monitoring feedback throughout the test.
