What's the Beta Branch?

The Beta Branch is the most up-to-date version of the game, with all the newest fixes and changes! We hope you'll enjoy the process of polishing this game along with us.

Changes made in the Beta Branch will eventually make their way to the Release Branch, once there's been time to iron out any issues that come along with these changes.

To switch between game branches, right-click Gunnhildr in your Steam Library, click Properties, switch to the Betas tab, and then select the branch you want to use.

This update includes:

  • Changed: vertical launch pads now work even when the door they sometimes assist with is locked

  • Tutorial: Made a few points in the tutorial more difficult for the player to get confused about

  • Audio: Garmr boss music adjustment and wildfire effect spawns have their own sound

  • Fixes to Ragdolled enemies:

    • trying to speak while ragdolled and that being played from a previous location

    • their ragdolled bodies no longer leave bullet hole decals on things they impact

    • general uncommon/rare situations when ragdolled or transitioning between ragdoll

  • Fixed: some rare cases where enemies respond poorly to being locked in a room with the player. For instance, forgetting where they are or which room they are allowed to move into.

  • Fixed: enemies disappearing when carnage setting is low (because otherwise they'd have exploded)

  • MenusRemoved some obsolete settings, repositioned some to improve visibility, and corrected some text
  • Improved: performance for exploding projectiles and explosions in general

  • Improved: performance of shared particle systems and visual effect stacks

  • Improved: footstep sounds to be more responsive and accurate

  • Improved: impact effects and wildfire visuals (various)

  • Improved: how the different quality settings actually affect quality

  • Improved: window dusty appearance while in the lowest quality setting

  • Fixed: A rare issue with the intro cinematic freezing things up

  • Fixed: pensieve UI being slow to respond in some rare circumstances

  • Fixed: a rare situation where the Berserker enemy in the tutorial would drop an item
