Gumball in Trick-or-Treat Land changes
As a kid, I never considered it to be a real possibility that I could make and publish a video game. I thought that stuff was meant for some other special class of people who had a magical ability to understand computers.
In college, you could have convinced me that I would get to work on a video game in some capacity, but I wouldn’t have dreamed it would be something I could do solo.
Four years ago, I knew next to nothing about making video games.
Three years ago, I’d still never heard the term “homebrew” before. I just knew I liked Game Boy Color games and I wanted to do something similar.
The last two years have been transformative for me. I’ve gone rapidly from someone with a weird casual hobby to someone who actually feels committed to a craft. I’m still learning and developing constantly. But I have the bug now and will probably be working on some silly little game or another every year for the rest of my life.
I can’t believe this project has come so far. I can believe I was able to get my debut project published. Gumball in Trick-or-Treat Land was a labor of love, and I really hope it’s something people will enjoy. The support of all of you beautiful internet weirdos means the world to me.
So one question remains. As we say in Trick-or-Treat Land: What do?
