What changed
- Performance
Here we are 3 years after saying “let's build a small roguelike”. The project has come a very long way in that time, with all major systems in place, albeit, with less content than desired at the end of the day. Aside from fun challenges like engine-level optimizations, my favorite part of the content work has been around the planet facilities room generation. Recently, I’ve expanded the room types and props to get more variety into them, and it’s working really well.

Recent graphics enhancements have been fun as well, and have given the game a more lively feel. Here's a 2023 snapshot...
vs. how it looks today
Another focus recently has been on the overall game pace. Making enemy waves show up more quickly, and reducing the target waves to clear per planet has helped keep things exciting. I think there’s still more to be done here, since the planets still feel empty, but I have plans for expanding the random points of interest found on the planets.
Overall, still a lot more expansion to do, but so far so good!
