Repeated intro

Hey, folks! Hasn’t it been ages since we last reported back to you with updates on the Guardian of Lore universe? Actually, no! It feels like April, but it’s September already, can you believe it? This was the month we had originally planned for our Indie platformer release date. Alas, the Covid-19 pandemic took us by surprise and turned our lives upside down. The good news is that we’re working full steam ahead now, fully immersed in this new normal, and our new release date of February 2021 is set in stone. Come on, now, fasten your seatbelts and join us in this magical mystery tour to the depths of the coolest Latin American Folk tales.

changedIndie Game Development - Level Hard: Multitasking LordsThe final bosses of the levels “Flower of Lirolay” and “The Virgin and the Cherufe'' are almost complete. The latter is probably one of our favorite final bosses: the Cherufe is a reptilian volcanic demon who feasts on virgins. Sounds like a charming dude, right? Well, he’s not! He’s likely to be the hardest final boss in the whole game.
addedIndie Game Development - Level Hard: Multitasking LordsWe’re testing new game mechanics for two levels: Talisman and Cherufe (for short). As you may know by now, we’re an ambitious bunch. We want the player to experience something different in terms of play in every level, and to take something with them after every level. Thus, each level has a different mechanic or a special something the other levels don’t have.
addedIndie Game Development - Level Hard: Multitasking LordsThe Aya Huma level is finished! There are still some details to polish, as well as the battle with the final boss, but we’re right on track! It was exciting to be able to develop Ecuador’s very own folktale. The team has added some Easter Eggs to the level, some hidden goodies, which may be hard to find for those who are not very familiar with Ecuadorian culture. Still, it was a fun task! It’s also one of the most detailed levels.

Guardian of Lore In-Game Updates

Indie Game Development - Level Hard: Multitasking Lords

At the Round2Games headquarters - now, our own homes! Totally unthinkable a few months ago -, it’s all work and all play! There are no dull boys in our dev team, that’s for sure. We are working on several levels at a time, which keeps us on our toes as well as fully entertained. When you spend every day doing what you love, work hardly feels like a chore.

Well, then, what Guardian of Lore levels are we working on? What changes and updates have we implemented this past month?

  • We are reaching the final instances in the development of the level called “The Marvelous Talisman”. This Quechua folktale revolves around… well, you guessed correctly… a marvelous talisman. What’s the deal with this amulet? Well, we can’t say yet, sorry folks! It’s classified info. What we can share is that this level is unlike any other we have developed so far. There’s no final boss, for starters, and it ends on a weird note. Why? That’s classified too. You’ll have to play it to find out ;)

  • The final bosses of the levels “Flower of Lirolay” and “The Virgin and the Cherufe'' are almost complete. The latter is probably one of our favorite final bosses: the Cherufe is a reptilian volcanic demon who feasts on virgins. Sounds like a charming dude, right? Well, he’s not!
