Guys, we’re still quarantined due to the Coronavirus! We’d hoped we’d have different news to share come June, but the truth is we’re still working from home… but hey, we’re making the most of it, and we can still wear slippers and bed hair to every team meeting. We’re confident no one wants to see that live… some things are better left to the imagination. It’s been a super eventful month for us, and we’re excited to share every bit with all of you. Sit tight, cause Guardian of Lore is back, and we have news!
Guardian Of Lore @ Steam Game Festival - Summer Edition
We’d shared in our previous devlog post that we’d been selected to participate in the Summer Edition of the Steam Game Festival. You can think about it, dream about it, obsess about it, but actually living it… woah, it’s something else entirely.
We spent the better part of June tweaking the demo so it would be perfect for the Festival, and we must say it was not as grueling as we thought it would be. We’ve become accustomed to working longer and longer hours to make up for the inevitable delays working from home has presented us with. So, by the time the Festival was upon us, the demo and the gorgeous art we created to accompany it were beyond ready to see the light of day. We had 1,200 downloads and over 500 wishlists during the Steam Game Festival, which we feel are great numbers. Most of those who downloaded the Guardian of Lore demo played for a solid half hour! All in all, the stats are encouraging. We still have a ways to go, but we’re on the right track!
As far as the live streamings, the Q and As (Questions and Answers), and the Dev Walkthroughs, we didn’t exactly know what to expect, so we were a bit nervous. What if no one showed up? What if we ended up with our neighbors and cousins asking us the same old questions we’ve been answering for years at barbecues? (We love you, friends, and family! Don’t take this the wrong way!). Amazingly, new people showed up! Actual fans! And they asked insightful questions. We had fun! We weren’t exactly expecting to actually enjoy being in the spotlight so much, we might get used to this.
All in all, it was a very enriching experience. One we hope to repeat many, many more times.
In-Game Changes
New Levels Alert!
Guardian of Lore has two new levels full of bad dudes ready to steal Sayri’s thunder! Or, rather, destroy the Lore… but you get the drift. The first one is another tutorial! Its aim is to give players some more combat training so they’ll be ready to face the music in the real game, especially the eyes on the walls, those bad guys have proven to be pretty hard to kill. And the second one is a scene in the Yerba Mate folktale. An enemy army tries one last time to murder the hunter while he is fast asleep, just like in the legend.
And… there’s more!
Tons of cool changes up ahead, keep your eyes peeled!
Some knights throw bombs!
We’ve revamped the animation of Sayri killing the Yaguarete Boss to give the sense of true achievement. Apart from giving you the spell, it also drops an object now. Catch it, Sayri! We held a contest in the (virtual) office - the loser would get to design our new website! Daniel may need
