Repeated intro

Hello Reapers, Here is a more stable and reliable update following yesterday’s hotfixes! Unless some bugs persist, you’ll probably only see more hotfixes.

What changed

2 fixes1 addition3 changes2 removals
  • Gameplay
  • Performance
  • UI and audio
  • Maps
  • Balance
fixedPrevious 1.12 hotfixes were still not stable, and there was a bug related to the card reward system that took some very deep diving into the code to figure out. Basically, after battles, some cards would technically be in the player’s hand but would be “deactivated” because the code was detecting them as invalid and deciding they should not be visible. This has been fixed, and error codes should no longer display on screen.
fixedAuto-saving after battles should no longer cause an FPS drop, or should have little to no impact on performance.
changedI also changed some UI buttons around. When holding many cards in hand outside of Battle Mode, they could cover certain parts of the UI, like the gold and blood money icons, so I moved those to a safer and more reliable place where they should always remain visible. Also moved the Soulword book, Map and Weather icons to a better area.
removedSaved and loaded games should no longer have the “D” showing up on map tiles everywhere due to a bug. Basically, this happened when you depleted a location of all its cards, saved the game, and then loaded it again, which could sometimes corrupt the map.
changedBoss cards are now more reliable and will roll dice to determine how many allies that boss will have. Previously, the boss card would appear with its icon but would cause issues when activating it for battle.
addedNew Game+ balance: I increased the overall base health of enemies in New Game+ by 2.5x, using the average card level and values from when the player wins the game to justify this change.

  • Previous 1.12 hotfixes were still not stable, and there was a bug related to the card reward system that took some very deep diving into the code to figure out. Basically, after battles, some cards would technically be in the player’s hand but would be “deactivated” because the code was detecting them as invalid and deciding they should not be visible. This has been fixed, and error codes should no longer display on screen.

  • Auto-saving after battles should no longer cause an FPS drop, or should have little to no impact on performance.

  • I went through the entire soulword database, playtested every card with those soulwords (including multiple soulwords), and made sure every card worked as intended. I would include all the notes from this testing, but it would be far too much data to present. All in all, every card and soulword should now work as intended, and I’ve created a more robust system to help ensure every card is accurate.

  • I also changed some UI buttons around. When holding many cards in hand outside of Battle Mode, they could cover certain parts of the UI, like the gold and blood money icons, so I moved those to a safer and more reliable place where they should always remain visible. Also moved the Soulword book, Map and Weather icons to a better area.

  • Boss cards are now more reliable and will roll dice to determine how many allies that boss will have. Previously, the boss card would appear with its icon but would cause issues when activating it for battle.

  • New Game+ balanceI increased the overall base health of enemies in New Game+ by 2.5x, using the average card level and values from when the player wins the game to justify this change.
  • Weather no longer appears in the Cave location and now properly nullifies any related ruleset changes. Since you are in a cave, no weather systems should apply there.

  • Weather also now loads properly based on your previous save file.

  • There are also various performance boosts across many systems in the game, making for a smoother overall experience.

That is all! Thank you, Reapers!
