Repeated intro

Hey folks, I'm going to keep this one short for the same reason I'm a bit late on this last update before Release- it's crunch time and I need to devote as much time to finalizing the Game as possible, hopefully my grammar isn't too bad. There was a short time that I was afraid I might have to post-pone the release for a few days so I could finalize some things, but I got lucky and the things that I thought were going to push off the release date fell into place. So here's the quick and dirty of it.

What changed

0 fixes3 additions3 changes0 removals
  • UI and audio

addedThe TutorialI am still tweaking the tutorial to make it a little easier to understand. I was going to release a trailer showing it off but I just don't have the time to get that done- I'm keeping this update quick so that I can get back to working on the Game. However, in place of the Tutorial trailer, in the last 3-4 days before release I have to get the version of the Game that will be released approved by Steam, so I will have some 'freetime' just before launch; I will be making a new, much better trailer, which includes a preview of the menus, should include a preview of the Game music and will replace all screenshots with updated ones- the HUD layout is the same but the style has been greatly improved, which will be shown in the video/screenshots.
addedTool TipsIn addition to the Tutorial I will be adding in a 'Tool Tips' Option which can be enabled and will work in any Game you play if enabled in the Options. 'Tool Tips' are seperate from the Tutorial but serve the same purpose in guiding the player with pointers as you play to help you know when you might need to build a certain structure, or if you are losing Resources before it's too late and should help those who are new to the game in managing their base and Creep Defense without as much guess work. Unfortunately there is a the chances are low that this will be included in the initial release, however I do plan to release a patch within the first week of release that adds this feature.
changedAbout Music and Sound Effects-This is my main focus until release. The Game itself is pretty much ready for release besides the audio end. I am on a hunt for the right music. I am also replacing/improving some of the effects and there are some objects which are missing their Sounds (Lightning Tower, Rail Gun, etc.)
addedHigh Score Tracking-I am doing my best to get the more important aspects ready for release right now. I would like for there to at least be a localized high score system for each level so that players can try to beat their old scores. I am not sure that this I will be able to add this before the first release. If it is not in the first release I will be releasing an update within the first week or two which adds this in. Eventually, as noted in other updates, the ultimate goal is to have a World Leaderboard which allows people all over the World to compete for the top 10 high score for the day/week and maybe month, but this is a lot more work than a localized version which requires me to learn new skills unrelated to the toolsets I have used to make the game. So anyway, to sum it up- if local high scores are not in the initial release, they will be added for the first patch, which should be a week or two after initial release.
changedWhat's next? There is still some balancing to do, which I may not be totally happy with by release, though since I have made the game and know all it's secrets I am bias, which makes balancing difficult. I will continue balancing and improvements after Release and I want to know what you think needs nerfing/boosting, I want to know how you think the Game can be improved because there will be many patches before the Official 1.0 release
changedOn a personal noteThis is the last update before Releasing the Game! I'll be honest- I am very excited, and equally nervousness about this release. I have been parts of teams that have released games, one was a large scale project with hundreds of people, but never on my own. I've put a whole lot of time into this and I hope it gives you many hours of entertainment and challenge!

Targeting Priority

The system is totally finished and implemented. This was a feature I didn't think would make it into Early Access, so this is a great bonus!

You can prioritize by:

  1. Target Highest Hitpoints

  2. Target Lowest Hitpoints

  3. Target Closest to Me (tower that is being assigned)

  4. Target Furthest from me (tower that is being assigned)

  5. Target Closest to Headquarters

  6. Target Furthest from Headquarters,

  7. Target Red Creeps first

  8. Target Blue Creeps first

  9. Target Green Creeps first

  10. Target Yellow Creeps first

About Music and Sound Effects-

This is my main focus until release. The Game itself is pretty much ready for release besides the audio end. I am on a hunt for the right music. I am also replacing/improving some of the effects and there are some objects which are missing their Sounds (Lightning Tower, Rail Gun, etc.)

High Score Tracking-

I am doing my best to get the more important aspects ready for release right now. I would like for there to at least be a localized high score system for each level so that players can try to beat their old scores. I am not sure that this I will be able to add this before the first release. If it is not in the first release I will be releasing an update within the first week or two which adds this in. So anyway, to sum it up- if local high scores are not in the initial release, they will be added for the first patch, which should be a week or two after initial release.

What's next?

There is still some balancing to do, which I may not be totally happy with by release, though since I have made the game and know all it's secrets I am bias, which makes balancing difficult. I will continue balancing and improvements after Release and I want to know what you think needs nerfing/boosting, I want to know how you think the Game can be improved because there will be many patches before the Official 1.0 release

On a personal note

I've put a whole lot of time into this and I hope it gives you many hours of entertainment and challenge!

I apologize if this update isn't as well thought out as my previous updates, these normally take a couple of days to get right but I just winged it this time around- I need to get back to working on the Game itself so it can be as good as possible; crunch-mode is in effect!

Lastly, I hope you're all having a great day!
