Gremlins, Inc. – Cards & Projects changes
Friends,
Welcome to version 223, which we just released.
UPDATED SINGLE-PLAYER SECTION
The section now does a better job in presenting the different single-player options available, as earlier some players have missed the drop-down menu that allowed to choose another type of the session.
The updated UI also prepares us for the feature that’s coming in the next update: the Weekly Challenge, with a leaderboard that resets every week (and a format that will change from time to time).
It also adds the (for now, locked) option to play a custom single-player session, where you yourself set the victory conditions.
Notice the functionality of the bottom part of the section: we display the best result in the game for this type of challenge; your own best result; and also offer a button that leads directly to the relevant leaderboard.
With the next update, which will introduce Weekly Challenge, we plan to clean up the leaderboards from the sessions which were completed in the earlier versions of the game and do not have an associated replay file (before, we thought of swiping all the results, but now we think we should keep the results that have an associated replay file, as a “proof” of fair play).
UPDATED TURN NOTIFICATIONS
Turn notifications (“YOUR TURN”, “OPPONENT’S TURN”) changed: now they don’t block your actions, so you can start playing cards immediately after the change of turn, without having to wait for the announcement panel to disappear. This speeds up the game (especially important for the future formats of 3-player and 4-player sessions).
Moreover, the center of the table now retains the color of the current player for the whole duration of the turn. So if the table is green, it’s your turn – and if it’s red, it’s the opponent’s. This change also prepares us for the format with more than 2 players, where you need to immediately understand, whose turn it is right now.
For the same reason, the turn announcement no longer says “opponent’s turn”, but uses the name of the player whose turn now begins. In formats for 2+ players, this is important.
OTHER CHANGES
OUTDATED VERSION
If you run an outdated version of the game, the game will now ask you to update and restart, so that we avoid bugs that happen when different versions are connected in the same session.
MUTE/UNMUTE EMOTICON SFX
Press the buttons to Mute/Unmute emoticons of opponent, to hear the new custom sound effects we just added for this option.
EXPERIMENTAL SOUND EFFECTS FOR CHANGE OF LANGUAGE
For fun, we decided to add custom sound effects for changing the languages. The first such SFX is in the game: try switching to Russian. Currently working on other language buttons...
LEADERBOARDS LOAD MUCH FASTER
All leaderboards now load much faster than before. We know it’s been an issue for some of the players returning to the main menu after a multiplayer session, and it’s now fixed.
– and that’s it for today!
We now have 5.500 players with access to the Playtest, and 3.200 players who are actually playing the game. If you catch a bug, or notice a part of the UI that needs improvement – do let us know.
Have a great week,
[CO dev team]
