This demo update wasn’t originally planned from the start. However, after several things came together, we felt that “now is the right time to properly show where the game is headed.”

We were honored to be nominated in the Visual category at Taipei Game Show 2026, and that gave us extra motivation to further refine the visual direction Graytail is moving toward. At the same time, as the story became more clearly defined, the concept of the town changed significantly. We felt it would be best to share these changes with you through a new demo.

From 2D to 3D

Although Graytail has always been built in 3D, we previously designed it to look as much like a 2D game as possible.

In this demo, we’ve taken a different approach by applying perspective to the camera and overhauling the visuals with the goal of creating a natural blend of 2D and 3D.

Because of this change, we had to revisit many objects that were never meant to be seen from the side or back, and update their models accordingly. It turned out to be a much bigger task than expected—but we feel that the added sense of depth and atmosphere was well worth it.

A More Modern Town

As the story took shape, the town’s concept also evolved—from a rural village into something with a more modern atmosphere.

A broken railway runs through the center of the town, with shops and spaces gathered beneath it. This area now serves as the game’s new main stage.

Here, players can:

  • Order drinks at the bar

  • Choose and play different music

  • Repair a bike at the bike shop

and experience various small but meaningful events throughout the town. We carefully polished each element with the hope that it would become a place where the protagonist’s story can naturally unfold.

We hope you enjoy this demo as much as possible, and we’d truly appreciate any feedback—whether it’s something you loved or something that felt off.

After this demo, we’ll be focusing fully on the road toward release. We’ll continue to share updates along the way.

Thank you, as always, for playing!
