What changed

0 fixes0 additions6 changes0 removals
  • UI and audio
  • Balance
  • Events
  • Gameplay
changedOur music crew is led by Art & Audio Director Suvi Savikko and Composer Gisula, two ridiculously talented artists shaping the game’s sound.
changedThe game’s Main Theme has been our meatiest and most difficult track to date. It was the very first piece composed and it embodies the journey of Grave Seasons, pulling on the game’s design philosophy, folklore, and story. The soundtrack has truly been a labor of love (and a dash of dread 😉), with every theme crafted to balance that cozy comfort and hidden horror.
changedThis process has led to tons of experimentation—from nylon to steel-string guitars, layering live percussion, and blending electric and acoustic cello textures. Our Seasonal themes showcase this playfulness best, with daytime and nighttime versions split between Gisula and Suvi, offering two distinct takes on every season.
changedOrganic instrumentation and Easter eggs too! How many seasonal themes can say they feature the titular season spelled out in morse code? Gisula even layered in live bird ambience recorded in beautiful Nashville—where, naturally, all birds sing in perfect key.
changedAnd when the sun sets on a season’s daytime theme, Suvi takes over and composes the nighttime version. She riffs on the original key or chord progression, putting a darker spin on the track and giving it an ominous personality of its own.

Howdy y'all!

The Perfect Garbage team is stoked to share our very FIRST behind-the-scenes devlog on the making of Grave Seasons! We’re kicking things off with a look at our original soundtrack + an exclusive preview of four tracks!

We all come from different musical backgrounds. We’re all making farming sim music, but we’re making music that we like, and that’s what’s making this soundtrack special. ” - Suvi

Our music crew is led by Art & Audio Director Suvi Savikko and Composer Gisula, two ridiculously talented artists shaping the game’s sound.

I'm a very visual person when I'm composing. Imagine this as a story structure, right? You have the climax of it there and you have to have your little ebbs and flows. If the song is big the whole time, then you don't really feel the impact. ” - Gisula

The game’s Main Theme has been our meatiest and most difficult track to date. It was the very first piece composed and it embodies the journey of Grave Seasons, pulling on the game’s design philosophy, folklore, and story. The soundtrack has truly been a labor of love (and a dash of dread 😉), with every theme crafted to balance that cozy comfort and hidden horror.

This process has led to tons of experimentation—from nylon to steel-string guitars, layering live percussion, and blending electric and acoustic cello textures. Our Seasonal themes showcase this playfulness best, with daytime and nighttime versions split between Gisula and Suvi, offering two distinct takes on every season.

“In a lot of the other tracks, it's 90-95% live, 100% live instrumentation and mostly acoustic, so that we get that really organic feel to it. I feel like we wanted to make it real and include a sense of groundedness. ” - Gisula

Organic instrumentation and Easter eggs too! How many seasonal themes can say they feature the titular season spelled out in morse code? Gisula even layered in live bird ambience recorded in beautiful Nashville—where, naturally, all birds sing in perfect key.

And when the sun sets on a season’s daytime theme, Suvi takes over and composes the nighttime version. She riffs on the original key or chord progression, putting a darker spin on the track and giving it an ominous personality of its own.

You want to create the impression that things are a little less safe now…a little more ambiguous. You’re no longer in that sweet and safe farming sim territory. You’re in uncharted waters. ” - Suvi
