GONZO VR changes
GONZO version 1.1.0 is out now, with a slew of bug-fixes, improved AI, reworked balance for difficulty where you want it and breathing room where you need it. We really appreciate everyone who supported the game early on and want to bring some polish to GONZO for players old and new.
While a large focus is on fixing bugs and improving the AI, we're very excited about the balance improvements as well. Our goal is to make Guards more intelligent and more formidable and encourage good stealth gameplay, while still giving you the option to run-and-gun when you want to. We've also reworked some of the patrols and scenarios to ensure you're never stuck in an unfair, unstealthable situation. Check out everything that changed below:
AI Improvements
Guards will now fan-out and properly search for the player rather than randomly roam in radius
Increased Guards' vertical field of view to address detection issues (stairs, hills, etc.)
Increased Guards' corpse detection distance to address immersion-breaking "ignorance"
Increased Guards' vision detection speed when player is very close -- making good stealth a higher priority but still allowing time to peek
Fixed Guards running straight to the player during alarms -- Guards will now converge to the player's last seen position and fan-out to search
Removed some Guards and reworked Guard paths to improve unnecessarily difficult or complex scenarios
Fixed bulky hitboxes that caused NPCs to sometimes not register a headshot/knockout
Decreased Guards' initial attack delay and increased attack frequency
Alarm duration is reset whenever a Guard detects the player
Fixed Guards and non-combat NPCs like Scientists fleeing toward the player
Further reduced Cultists' view distance when robes disguise is equipped
Reduced view distance of non-combat NPCs like Scientists
Balance & Quality of Life
Reduced player walk speed slightly
Added a vignette when player is hidden (i.e. in shadows, lockers, vents, etc.)
Camera's default zoom has increased and now simply toggles between zoomed/unzoomed
Prevent un-toggling crouch when head is blocked by obstacle
Prevent opposite hand grabbing or interfering with the other hand's quick inventory
Added grace period for quick inventory item interaction to prevent accidentally missing a grab
Added the ability to free the Masonic Lodge prisoner by untying the rope rather than cutting it
Enabled use of books on the Masonic Lodge scale
Updated Silo objective title to be more informative
Alarms are now cleared if all Guards are dead
Alarm duration extended to 60 seconds
Replaced some placeholder assets

Preload all sounds to prevent first instance of certain sounds being cut off

We have some more updates planned in the coming weeks, including achievements and further quality-of-life improvements to make the game more comfortable and more immersive.
We appreciate your feedback and look forward to bug reports, feature requests, and anything else you might want to share with us!
