Hello Researchers!
The hunting season is now officially open. Arachnid has joined the creature pool, and your populations need to watch their backs. This update introduces the Hunter role, map visibility, and a significant overhaul to AI behavior.
New Hunter Character: Arachnid
Hunters' role offers a lethal new perspective on gameplay. Instead of focusing on growth, your goal is extinction.
No Growth: You cannot increase your numbers traditionally.
Lairs: Build lairs to generate passive shards and provide a safety net to resurrect fallen hunters in case things go sideways.
AI & Map Overhaul
Smarter Prey (and Predators): AI populations are now much better at adapting their strategy based on species aggressiveness and their surroundings. They will flee if threatened and are now more mobile overall.
Fog of War: Map visibility is now active. You should pay close attention to your population's surroundings so they won't become easy prey.
Misc
Trees and bushes are now getting covered with snow along with the map, providing a more visually appealing snowy environment.
RMB now sets a travel destination for your population.
Using numbers allows for a quick selection of a desired movement type.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR GENETICA?
I am now shifting my focus towards Multiplayer. This is the final major pillar needed for Genetica to transition into Early Access. Stay tuned for future updates!
