  • Performance
  • Server
  • Maps
changedMax players countFor example we are bumping amount of enemies for coop, but we have to keep it in sane limits for performance reasons, so that's why playing with a lot of friends might throw game balance out of the window :D
changedHow does our networking work? It's based on a hybrid approach that mixes server and peer to peer approaches. All damage is also client authoritative, which means that combat should feel quite responsive.
addedHow does our networking work?So far, since last update, 602 game files were either changed, moved or deleted . This shows how much we need to modify the game to make coop work and we are still far away from finishing it. Basically, every feature need to be modified to make it synchronize over the network. Also, such amount of changes means that most likely we will introduce a record breaking amount of new bugs (:
addedCity biomeWe are also working on a new biome - city. Every building can be destructed. To make it work we created a new destruction tech that lets you chop away parts of the buildings or drive through them and collapse parts of them if chunks below them will be destroyed. On top of that, larger bosses can drive through them causing extreme mayhem (and a lag spike for now).
changedCity biomeThis tech is designed from the ground up with performance in mind , which is the biggest challenge since there are hundreds of these buildings in the city. This is still early work-in-progress , but so far it performs quite well and just slightly worse than some of the other game areas.

COOP mode

Steam post image FUMES devs 30 seconds after entering coop for the first time (collisions testing).

This is not an official announcement yet, however we would like to share progress that we made with FUMES COOP.

It will be based on lobbies created by you and your Steam friends. You will be able to join a host game and progress it together. All loot and progress made together will be kept in your single player playthrough.

Max players count

We are designing coop in a way that there is no strict players limit (besides Steams maximum which is ~250), but we aim to make the game perform well and be fun up to ~6 players. More than that will be technically possible, but we can't guarantee that your PC won't explode and game will be fun and balanced.

For example we are bumping amount of enemies for coop, but we have to keep it in sane limits for performance reasons, so that's why playing with a lot of friends might throw game balance out of the window :D

City biome

We are also working on a new biome - city. Every building can be destructed. To make it work we created a new destruction tech that lets you chop away parts of the buildings or drive through them and collapse parts of them if chunks below them will be destroyed. Thank you for your support. We will share more details about coop soon (tm)!
