Repeated intro

Hello Survivors,

What changed

  • Gameplay
  • UI and audio
addedExtended AreasWe've made significant progress in extending the level design for our horror game set in the frozen arctic. New areas have been added, further passes from the research station and treacherous ice caves to enhance exploration and tension. Atmospheric elements like dynamic weather changes and haunting soundscapes will deepen the immersive experience. Our goal is to heighten player suspense and engagement as they navigate through this chilling environment.
changedThe InventoryWhile testing the game ourself, we had a much bigger set of items for our player. With bandages, injections, water, alcohol, fuel and some more, it was quite a mess. So we decided to reduce the amount of items further, to help the player enjoy the pure gameplay instead of navigating to much through his backpack.
addedThe InventoryWith the new update, we plan to simplify it way further by adding a radial menu. This will help to focus on the stuff we have, certain elements like keys or puzzle items will display separately and will make use of a simple interaction widget itself.
changedEnemy AIWhile you were mostly escaping the enemy at this point, you didn't had a chance to interact with it directly. This will change. Right now we are already fine tuning our AI to be quite responsive to sound, search for his pray and hunt you down. But you will also be able to distract him with sounds, but we will demonstrate it further with an upcoming dev log soon.
changedEnemy AIStay tuned for more updates as we continue to refine the gameplay experience! If you have any ideas or feedback, don't forget to join our discord and help us grow the game.

yes Frozen Below: Arctic Expedition started a few weeks ago and we were already able to draw a lot of feedback out of it. We pushed our first patch recently, but of course we already started to extend the content further.

So here are some small insights from the last weeks we were working on Frozen Below and what to expect in the future.

Extended Areas

We've made significant progress in extending the level design for our horror game set in the frozen arctic.

The Inventory

While testing the game ourself, we had a much bigger set of items for our player. With bandages, injections, water, alcohol, fuel and some more, it was quite a mess. So we decided to reduce the amount of items further, to help the player enjoy the pure gameplay instead of navigating to much through his backpack.

With the new update, we plan to simplify it way further by adding a radial menu. This will help to focus on the stuff we have, certain elements like keys or puzzle items will display separately and will make use of a simple interaction widget itself.

Enemy AI

While you were mostly escaping the enemy at this point, you didn't had a chance to interact with it directly. This will change. Right now we are already fine tuning our AI to be quite responsive to sound, search for his pray and hunt you down. But you will also be able to distract him with sounds, but we will demonstrate it further with an upcoming dev log soon.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to refine the gameplay experience! If you have any ideas or feedback, don't forget to join our discord and help us grow the game.
