Thanks to all the players who are still enjoying Froggy Hates Snow. Whether you’re new to the game or have been playing since launch, here are a few useful tips and mechanics that aren't always obvious when you're starting out.

Finding the Escape Door Faster

Each location contains three Small Heat Bubbles hidden near the boundary between the second and third rings, so you can always estimate their approximate locations.

Why are they important?

  • They let you warm up and upgrade without returning to your main base.

  • Once all three Small Heat Bubbles have been discovered, your map reveals the possible Escape Door area with a purple striped zone.

If your goal is to gather artifacts and meta currency, then safely escape, it can be worth prioritizing the discovery of all three Small Heat Bubbles first.

Artifact Sources

Artifacts can only be obtained from a few specific activities:

Anomaly Zones

  • 1x Common or Uncommon Artifact

Treasure Chest

  • 1x Rare or Legendary Artifact

Final Boss

  • 1x Common or Uncommon Artifact

  • 1x Rare or Legendary Artifact

If you're hunting for powerful artifacts, defeating the boss is by far the most rewarding option, though it's also the riskiest and most time-consuming approach.

How Stats Stack

One of the most common questions I’ve received is whether different upgrades stack together. In general, almost everything stacks together.

Dig Speed

Body Strength -> Dig Speed stacks with Shovel -> Dig Speed.

So yes, upgrading Body Strength will also improve shovel digging.

Depending on your current upgrade levels, it's often worth comparing the value-to-price ratio of available upgrades before spending your gems.

Heat Management

Heat, Scarf, and Gloves stack together.

  • Heat increases your overall temperature reserves.

  • Scarf provides additional Heat bonuses.

  • Gloves increase Heat while also improving Dig Speed.

Movement Speed & Skis

Actual Ski Speed = Base Movement Speed + Extra Ski Speed

This means that movement speed upgrades also improve your skiing speed.

Dig Speed Limit

Dig Speed is limited by your Base Movement Speed (In other words, you cannot dig faster than you can normally move).

Pickaxe & Drill

This is one of the few exceptions where skills do not stack.

Drill is significantly stronger than Pickaxe, and will usually outperform it after only a few upgrades. The game automatically uses whichever tool is currently stronger (if you have both at the same time).

Quick Tips

  • Fully upgraded Scanner, Locator, and Map can reveal resources, keys, the Treasure Chest and the Escape Door. Locator can also reveal nearby Bomb Traps.

  • Enemy Projectiles can be avoided with Rolls (regular or fully invincible). You can also freeze, destroy, or absorb them using Explosives, Energy Waves, Shields, and Destructive Fields.

  • New enemy waves clear a large area of snow. Use this to quickly access previously buried terrain.

  • You can switch between Automatic and Manual Aiming at any time during combat (Caps Lock by default).

  • The red circle around your frog shows your current attack range. Enemies outside this radius cannot be damaged.

  • Inside a Heat Bubble, you can open and close the upgrade menu with the interaction key (E by default). No need to press Esc.

  • Explosion Bombs and Frost Bombs can activate stone pressure plates used in some Anomaly challenges.

  • If the game feels too bright, too dark, or the UI feels too small, check the Brightness, Night Mode, and Interface Scale settings.

  • Don't forget that Peaceful Mode removes enemy waves entirely, letting you focus on exploration and progression at your own pace.

Thanks for playing and for all the feedback!
