- Gameplay
Greetings, Tiny Farmers!
Our Discord playtest is over, and wow - you really showed up! 💚 608 playtesters tried the game, and we received 183 survey responses full of kind words, thoughtful suggestions, and bug reports. This level of detail will help us make Fourleaf Fields even better!
First of all: thank you. Seeing so many players enjoy the tiny world we’re growing means a lot to us.
A few lovely numbers from the playtest
| What happened | Result |
|---|---|
| Players who rated the overall experience 4 or 5 | 156 / 183 |
| Average overall score | 4.29 / 5 |
| Players who said the game felt cozy and relaxing | 176 / 183 |
| Average farming score | 4.56 / 5 |
| Players who would play again | 181 / 183 |
| Players who played for 2+ hours | 99 |
The biggest thing we learned: the cozy tiny-world fantasy is working. Players especially enjoyed the farming, giant crops, cute bugs, colorful art, and the general relaxing feeling of the game.
What you liked the most
| Most loved parts | Common feedback |
|---|---|
| 🌾 Farming & giant crops | Satisfying, cute, and fun to repeat |
| 🐞 Bug ranching | Very cute, cozy, and full of potential |
| 🎨 Visual style | Players loved the art, colors, and character designs |
| 🏡 Tiny-world atmosphere | The “small person in a big world” fantasy really landed |
| 💬 NPCs & gossip | Interesting idea, especially for learning secrets and stories |
One of our favorite takeaways is that bug ranching already feels like something many players want to keep doing long-term, and yes, we saw all the requests for more beetles, ants, isopods, rideable bugs, and even spiders 👀
And yes, we read your dating preferences 😏
We also had a lot of fun reading what kind of characters you’d like to date. Thank you for sharing your very specific romantic tastes with us - from sweet and caring types to mysterious, brooding ones. Very respectable choices!
And to the players who said they want romance options to come with gameplay bonuses: we totally get it. Love is great, but love that also improves your farming efficiency? That’s what we call a real commitment 💚
Your answers gave us a better idea of what kind of relationship dynamics feel exciting, cozy, funny, or meaningful to you, and that’s very useful as we keep working on NPCs and romance.
What we’re taking into account
Of course, the playtest also showed us what needs more love.
| Area | What we learned |
|---|---|
| 🗺️ Navigation | Players want a clearer map, NPC locations, and better guidance |
| 🔨 Crafting | A crafting mini-game can be charming, but now it feels repetitive |
| 💬 Gossip system | The idea is interesting, but the rewards and consequences need to feel stronger |
| 🧑🌾 NPCs | Players like the characters visually, but want deeper dialogue and relationships |
| 🐞 Bug ranching | Totems, shelters, and bug resources could use clearer explanations |
So our next focus is pretty clear: make the game easier to navigate, make repeated actions smoother, make gossip more meaningful, and give bugs and NPCs even more personality.
What’s next?
We’re already reviewing your feedback and using it to guide the next steps for development. Some things may take time, but your playtest answers gave us a much clearer picture of what works, what needs tuning, and what has the most potential. We're planning to polish the playtest build and run the second, global wave of the playtest soon to get even more insights and suggestions!
Thank you again for playing, sharing your thoughts, and helping us grow Fourleaf Fields into a better and cozier little world 🌿
More news soon!
