addedWe are excited to bring you a major update that changes our game substantially in many ways! We have added a handy tutorial system that will help all the new Cult Founders understand what it takes to lead their cult to glory. We also reworked the lighting and colour system within the game to help with tracking your character and enemies and reduce visual noise. We noticed that the melee followers were inconsistent and thus reworked them. For detailed information please read below:
addedTutorial:We noticed that when you are playing Founder of the Final Cult for the first time it can be a little overwhelming and confusing. So to help new players out we added a small but helpful tutorial that will explain the basics of the game. This tutorial will first appear when you start your first ever run in the game. But don’t worry if you forget or zoom through it! When you are in a run, you can pause the game and there will be a “help” button that will bring up the tutorial again.
addedReworked Lighting and Colour:We have fully reworked the lighting and colour system in game so that the action is much easier to follow now. Everything within the game now has an outline to help track it better, such as your character, your followers' attack, enemies, enemy projectiles, and etc. Additionally we have reworked the lighting on everything so that it fits visually better on both maps thus making it help with tracking and reducing the visual noise in late game.
changedMelee Followers Rework:We noticed that the melee followers were inconsistent across their category and compared to other followers so we reworked their attack logic to hopefully make them “easier” to understand and therefore use. Before their attack would follow their movement and as result make it hard to line them up to hit enemies. Now their attack will complete one “swing” from when the attack started even if the follower has moved. Therefore it is easier to know when the attack starts and what it will hit.
changedMinor ChangesWin Condition for 20 minute gamemode has changed: Once the timer reaches 0:00 you must also kill all bosses on screen to ‘win’ the run

General Changes

Tutorial:

Reworked Lighting and Colour:

Minor Changes

  1. Win Condition for 20 minute gamemode has changed: Once the timer reaches 0:00 you must also kill all bosses on screen to ‘win’ the run

  2. There is an attack bar under each recruited follower that indicates when an attack will go off

  3. Followers are now evenly spaced around you

  4. Pick-up visuals have been reworked for Exp Scrolls and Knowledge FragmentsPick-ups no longer grow in size. A colour scheme has been added to indicate the quantity/quality of the pickup
  5. Character movement rework: Moving around the map should feel more natural and less twitchy

  6. Added a Boss Spawn animation to better indicate the new threat

  7. Bosses and enemies rebalance: Bosses now have a lot more hp and more damage dealt to players, Regular enemies now have more hp and damage dealt to players, Enemies no longer scale their movement speed as time goes on

  8. Added new customization in the menu options allowing players to adjust the following: Screen Shake, Enemy HP bars, Damage Numbers, Particle Intensity

  9. Adjusted tooltips for better visibility

  10. Added helpful tips on the pause screen

  11. Explosion damage is now more consistent

  12. Follower tags now indicate what tags were added (gold) vs what a follower starts with

  13. Entering any inputs on the intro screen will now skip to the main menu

  14. Renamed “Shop” to “Library”

  15. Changed the first variant of the axe follower

Bug Fixes

  1. Fixed followers incorrectly showing tags that they do not have

  2. Fixed how follower tags are updated, they are more consistent now

  3. Fixed bug that allowed recruited followers to be banished

  4. Fixed lag spikes caused by particles from enemies dying

  5. Fixed a bug that made it possible for enemies and bosses to push players into walls and prevent movement

  6. Improved overall performance

  7. Fixed controller support in the library

  8. Fixed mouse visibility when using a controller

  9. Fixed game not automatically pausing when controller disconnects

  10. Fixed game not automatically pausing when opening the Steam overlay
