Forest Doesn’t Care changes
This update brings one of the biggest overhauls to Forest Doesn't Care so far. We've completely reworked melee combat, added a large collection of new weapons, introduced new survival tools, expanded the barter system, and improved dozens of gameplay systems based on your feedback.
Melee Combat
Added a large collection of new melee weapons:
Felling Axe
Hatchet
Claw Hammer
Black Balisong
Machete
Kukri
Cleaver
Billhook Machete
Tactical Machete
Sledgehammer
Baseball Bat
Completely reworked the melee combat system.
Added brand-new melee combat animations for both first-person and third-person views.
Light weapons are now faster, while heavy weapons hit harder but swing more slowly.
Improved melee hit replication in multiplayer.
Fixed attack overlap issues.
Improved impact and blocking sound effects.
Enemies now react when their attacks are blocked.
Began implementing a full melee weapon blocking system.
Removed camera zoom while blocking.
Reduced weapon durability loss when blocking attacks.
Added new impact effects during blocks, including sparks, wood splinters, and other surface-based particles.
Weapons
Improved the Flare Gun effect and its visibility marker.
Flashlight now properly illuminates the ground in front of the player.
Deagle, Sniper Rifle, and Machete can now be repaired at the Repair Station.
Quality of Life
Added weapon caching when using consumable items.
Your primary weapon is now automatically re-equipped after using bandages, medkits, drinks, and other usable items.
This system also works when switching from melee item interactions.
Survival
Added Trail Flags. Craft them and place permanent markers to help navigate through the forest.
Barter
Expanded the bar's barter inventory with more items.
Added additional equipment and supplies that can now be obtained through trading.
Animations
Added a new first-person movement animation.
Removed exaggerated hit reactions and screaming while the player is suffering from thirst.
Fixes
Increased the size of the active quest marker, making it easier to spot.
