changedDear all, Sorry to be away for such a long time without any announcements. We're currently busy working on the AI. However, we've never forgotten about you guys and some of the problems we feel still exists in the game. Like officer recruitment. This - believe it or not has been a thorn in my neck since release. After a long period of consideration, I believe it's time to do the following: 1) Commanders will still only be available where they're. 2) When you recruit them, they'll enter in their respective ships from an off-screen position in the current sector. 3) You'll now need to pay for their ship. 4) Their ships eat into your command points but aren't restricted. That means while you can't build additional ships, you can hire additional commanders to temporarily boost your forces. 5) Resurrection timing for commanders will be increased from 30 seconds per command to 2 or 3 minutes (depending on balancing). Thus you can't abuse recruiting commanders without waiting for the ship to be ready. And when you've exhausted all your available commanders, you're definitely on the brink of defeat. 6) You can immediately command their ship the moment they enter the game. 7) You'll still need to assign them as fleet commanders. This is due to a future potential expansion use of commanders. 8) You may need to pay for their rank and fame as well. This is in consideration at the moment.
addedConclusionPlease like this announcement to show your support for this change in mechanic. I believe it'd simply things a lot more and lessen the need to manually move officers around. P.S. The new AI is really going to be challenging. You've been warned. Thanks, Jeremy
