Hey Fleetbreakers, We’ve been making big updates to the game’s meta skill tree with one goal in mind: give you more ways to shape your fleet and define your playstyle. Here’s a look at the changes we’ve been making.

We’ve been making big updates to the game’s meta skill tree with one goal in mind: give you more ways to shape your fleet and define your playstyle. Here’s a look at the changes we’ve been making.

Faction Trees

Cobalt and Slaraash are each getting their own tech trees, highlighting their identities, strengths, and strategic quirks.

Ship/Class Trees

Every ship class will have its own progression path. If you love a particular class or ship, you’ll be able to invest deeply - unlocking upgrades and perks that reinforce your preferred style. This moves us closer to letting you build your fleet, not just a fleet.

Extractor Tree

Resource play is becoming more intentional. Extractors and other gathering systems are getting their own tree so you can specialize in economy, efficiency, or both.

Turret Tree

Turret techs are outgrowing the Mothership tree, so we’re exploring giving them a dedicated tree with clearer upgrade paths and customization options.

Drops & Tradepost Rework

We’re reorganizing into a cleaner, more intuitive grouping and out of the existing faction-specific setup.

Rank & Discovery Updates

We’re also testing how many ranks each tech can have - especially important for some smaller buffs that stack well. Tech costs have been rebalanced to make early purchases easier, and we’re evaluating how often you should expect to earn Discoveries.

The current direction: more frequent upgrades, especially in the Discovery tree. That means core stat boosts (gathering, combat, etc.) will be smaller individually but available in more ranks.

We Want Your Input, though. As we shape this system, tell us:

  • How often do you expect to earn new Discoveries?

  • What upgrades or specializations do you want in ship‑class trees?

  • What meta‑level choices you feel are missing today?

  • What your dream “build identity” looks like?
