Flakeparty changes
A bit later than intended, but here we are!
We've implemented all of the game's mechanics we wanted, added some new cereals, reworked some interfaces and systems, fixed some bugs and then added some more!
Feedback also revealed that minigames haven't been received very well, so we rethought their design principles and reworked them.
New
Spoons
Now you can use different spoons in the game!
They come in different shapes and behave somewhat differently...
Unlock/Progression System
Some cereals, decks and spoons are now locked behind a quest that has to be completed before that cereal can be found naturally in the game! When you unlock cereals though, they will be guaranteed to be found in the next cereal bag you open!
Scoring System
Changed how cereals generate points, instead of each one of them individually producing a score, often resulting in having to concentrate all effects/bonuses on one single cereal and ignoring the rest, now each of them still do the same calculations, but keep separate base points and multipliers (conveniently called MULT) that are then added to the whole round's score. At the end of the scoring phase, the actual points are calculated and considered towards the target
Game Modes
Mr. Bowl now offers multiple ways to play with cereals, and one of them is a Cereal Only mode!
You can choose Serial Cereal mode before starting a run, and you will encounter no minigames and won't have to choose your path on the map.
Instead, you will simply alternate between cereal rounds, events, shops and bosses in endless mode!
New Cereals
We've upped the cereal count from 27 to 52, though most of them are locked behind quests
Added
2 legendairies
6 rares
8 uncommons
9 commons
This new legendairy is my favorite
Cereal Territories
Alongside the reworked minigames, we've also added a new one, which hopefully is more in line with the game's flow and won't have the same problems as the other minigames!
Draw 4 differently colored cereal cards in your hand. To be able to score them, you'll be able to place them on board if it has no adjacent cards or at least 1 of the same color. The board is scored once you are left without moves or no valid moves
Better Tooltips
Redesigned tooltips, now they also show what slots a cereal targets and a small explanation about any important keyword in the description or tag.
Faster!!!
Now you can choose how fast the game effects' resolve in the settings, going from a sloooowww 0.5x speed to 4x speed
Improvements
Cereal effects now can be triggered simultaneously, which changes nothing from a gameplay's perspective, but does result in some mindblowing combos! Now chains are actually nice to use.
Changed
Redesigned the main menu and settings menu
Events are no longer random and will instead show as individual rounds on the map
Memory Cards Minigame reworked to have a more similar flow to the main game
Darts Minigame no longer imposes conditions on cereal placement and no longer follows a normal darts board layout, now there is a total of 40 slots
Redesigned Depressios to be more forgiving about their placement
Many, many fixes and little changes all over the game
Now that all main systems are implemented in the game, it's time to focus only on new content and preparing for the game's release, which we've also decided is the 23rd September! (and also hoping we won't delay, just like we have delayed this update...)
Looking forward to see what everyone thinks of the new update!
