Repeated intro

Hello everyone! We’ve been quiet here for a little while, but rest assured we have been hard at work!

  • Gameplay

addedOur last post spoke to the asymmetrical design of Finch & Archie’s player mechanics, and how we managed to get these two uneasy allies working together to crack cases. Since then, we’ve made a lot of improvements to other areas of the game - Polishing up our tutorial and the ‘puzzle’ sequences that follow. Tightening up the narrative, enhancing the environments, adding in little QoL updates here and there… And maybe even a new animation for our protagonist pair!?
changedWe’ve taken the game to a few events as well! If you saw us and came to say hi or check the game out, we want to say a huge thank you!! Doing events is always a hefty undertaking, but always a good time and absolutely more than worth the effort. Another massive thank you is due to our play-testers as well. In August, we did an ‘official’ round of playtesting for the tutorial and first episode, gathering a ton of excellent feedback which drove a lot of the recent changes and updates. We couldn’t have done it without you.
changedOh, and by the way… we have a Discord now! If you want to be a part of the community, hear about future playtests, stay tuned in for updates, or just hang out and listen to some smooth jazz (or all of the above!), come on in!
changedJoin the Finch & Archie Discord Server!
changedAnyway, thanks for reading another dev diary. We’re keeping this one short because we’ve actually prepared a video this time! In it, we talk a little bit about the game while you get to see some more recent gameplay. We also announce that we have a free demo coming to Steam next month as part of Steam’s October Next Fest! We’d love for you to check it out and let us know what you think.

Uneasy allies though they may be in the beginning, Finch & Archie’s partnership grows closer as the story progresses, thanks to you, the players! Besides, every good boy deserves a nice pat, don’t you think?
