Fallen Sword II changes
To open new realms and advance the main questline, you may need to pass through a Dungeon.
Dungeons are perilous realms where the enemies get tougher the deeper you dare to go. Each dungeon features a number of branching pathways and a series of trials marked by Stage Nodes.
Each stage holds a random event, whether that's a monster spoiling for a fight or a chance to catch your breath at a campfire.
Reach the end of a dungeon and defeat the Dungeon Boss to earn your passage back to the main realms, and take their loot with you! Dungeons reward XP and rare equipment sets that you won't find anywhere else!
Later in the game you'll run into more challenging versions of Dungeons, known as Gauntlets. Here, you'll face some of the toughest bosses in the game - and the greatest rewards!
Beware the Queen in Violet, one of the first Gauntlet bosses you may encounter...
You'll use special keys to enter a Dungeon or Gauntlet.
DUNGEON KEYS
Allows access to Dungeons and Legendary Dungeons. Dungeon keys work on any dungeon.
GAUNTLET KEYS
Allows access to Gauntlets and Event Gauntlets. Each Gauntlet has their own unique key.
You can only hold so many keys at once...so no hoarding! Put them to good use.
Keys can be acquired in many ways. One of the key ways (sorry) is buying them with Gold from the Locksmith in Torgallion. They only stock so many each week, so swing by and grab yours whenever they restock!
You can also snag keys by completing Daily Quests, participating in Events, and more!
DUNGEON FEATURES
BLESSINGS AND ORDEALS
The moment you step into a Dungeon, you'll be offered a choice between two Blessings and one Ordeal. These are special buffs that stick with you for your entire run and are randomised each time you enter. Ordeals are the spicier cousin of a Blessing; they hand out bigger rewards upon completion and offer more ludicrous buffs, but they come with a burden attached. High risk, high reward.
HEALTH
Unlike in regular realm combat, where you bounce back to full health after every fight, in Dungeons your health only recovers a little after each encounter. Make use of any campfires to patch yourself back up to full.
LIVES
Did you get knocked out? Spend a Life to resume your journey through the Dungeon. If you have none left, you get thrown out and must start over again...
CAMPFIRES
Campfires are special event stages where you can fully restore your HP, change up your skills, and access features that are otherwise locked while you are inside the Dungeon. In Gauntlets, you can also browse the wares of the mysterious Curio Merchant. Consider them your little oasis of calm.
AURAS
While moving to your next stage of a Gauntlet, you may be struck by a random condition called an Aura. These might bless you with a helpful buff or saddle you with a nasty effect for that fight. They affect everyone in the encounter - enemies included - and are announced at the start of the stage.
CHAOS
As you advance to the next floor of a Gauntlet, enemies will get stronger. This is represented by a special stackable status on your foes known as Chaos. Each stack boosts the attributes even further, and there's no getting rid of it. The deeper you go, the more chaotic things get.
DUNGEONS VS GAUNTLETS
Dungeons have up to five stages, with Stage 5 being the final Elite boss.
Gauntlets have up to fifteen stages. Every five stages you will encounter an Elite boss, with a final Legendary or even Mythic boss at the final stage! And just in case that wasn't challenging enough, after every Elite, the next stage gets just a little tougher...
Gauntlets dish out some of the most powerful equipment in the game. You'll also rake in XP and Gold, and each Gauntlet has its own special achievements to complete for titles and other rewards.
Each time you prevail over an encounter within the Gauntlet, you will be awarded Dungeon Points. These can be used to purchase Curios from the Curio Merchant at the Campfire. These apply handy buffs to give you a bit of an advantage during your run.
Gauntlets are also the only place you'll find Gems. What are Gems, you ask? More on that coming in the future.
