addedHello Everyone!Welcome back to another Dev Update from the team on EverRail! We want to let you know about some changes we will make to the UI, as well as some new systems we'll introduce! Let's get into it, shall we?
addedHungerUntil now, rations were simply used to feed the passengers on your train, but that was never enough. So, we'll add a hunger bar to the character you're playing as, and now you'll need to eat to maintain your stamina and prevent starvation (and avoid ending up like the chap below)!
addedHungerHunger will move through stages as it builds up, first of all limiting your available stamina, then starting to drain health when it gets catastrophically low. You can consume rations to refill the bar, adding another need for you to balance as you collect resources out in the Tracklands.
addedStaminaYou may have noticed us mentioning stamina just then, and you're right if you thought "Stamina wasn't in the demo". Stamina was always something we wanted to add to the game, as it allows us to create a number of interesting situations, and deepens our existing gameplay loops. You can see what happens when you run out of stamina in the gif below:
changedStaminaWhether it be deciding when to move quickly and when to conserve energy, pushing to get back to the train before the battery drains, or any other situation where moving faster would be important, stamina will be another thing to balance as you try to survive the Tracklands of Inara.
changedFuture UI UpdatesWe'll update the top bar UI (this is an ongoing process, and the below image might not represent the final look) so that more information is available to you in a clearer, more concise manner. As you can see in the image below, you can clearly see the key information you'll need moment to moment in game at a glance.

Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to another Dev Update from the team on EverRail! We want to let you know about some changes we will make to the UI, as well as some new systems we'll introduce! Let's get into it, shall we?

Hunger

Until now, rations were simply used to feed the passengers on your train, but that was never enough. So, we'll add a hunger bar to the character you're playing as, and now you'll need to eat to maintain your stamina and prevent starvation (and avoid ending up like the chap below)!

Hunger will move through stages as it builds up, first of all limiting your available stamina, then starting to drain health when it gets catastrophically low. You can consume rations to refill the bar, adding another need for you to balance as you collect resources out in the Tracklands.

Stamina

You may have noticed us mentioning stamina just then, and you're right if you thought "Stamina wasn't in the demo". Stamina was always something we wanted to add to the game, as it allows us to create a number of interesting situations, and deepens our existing gameplay loops. You can see what happens when you run out of stamina in the gif below:

Whether it be deciding when to move quickly and when to conserve energy, pushing to get back to the train before the battery drains, or any other situation where moving faster would be important, stamina will be another thing to balance as you try to survive the Tracklands of Inara.

Future UI Updates

We'll update the top bar UI (this is an ongoing process, and the below image might not represent the final look) so that more information is available to you in a clearer, more concise manner. As you can see in the image below, you can clearly see the key information you'll need moment to moment in game at a glance.

Battery time, Rations, Iso and Passenger numbers are all shown at the top of the screen, with the minimap moved so it's easier to take in, as well as now having cardinal directions shown on it so you know which way you're heading.

That's all for this week, we'll be back soon with more, but if you want to stay in the loop on EverRail then follow our socials or join us in Discord!

Be Amazing Everyone!
