Stability Update (v1.06) — Better Than Ever

We've been hard at work, and the game keeps getting better with every update.

Since launch, we've shipped fix after fix based on your reports and feedback — improving stability, localization, performance, and the moment-to-moment experience. Version 1.06 continues that work, and the full history of what we've shipped is below. Thank you to everyone who has reported issues and helped shape these improvements.

Version 1.06 — Latest

  • Fixed a localization bug at the end of the game where the ending text failed to render correctly, caused by an incorrect alphabet being used in Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and Russian.

  • Removed a feature that caused some of your partner's interactions to be heard on the opposite side, as it could be confusing.

  • Fixed a bug where placing the winding key and the automaton's pen too quickly caused the pen to never reach the ink, so it wouldn't write the clue on the paper.

  • Adjusted the size of some items that appeared too large in the dumbwaiter.

  • Fixed a bug where the solution message for the gem and alchemical flask box puzzle was shown to both players, when it should only appear for the one solving it.

  • Fixed a localization bug where the dumbwaiter instruction messages appeared only in English.

  • Fixed a bug that allowed the volumetric key in the blue box of the twins' room to be taken before solving the puzzle that contained it.

  • Adjusted some puzzle-solving sounds to improve the clarity of the interaction.

  • Fixed a bug that displayed the wrong game objective when approaching the mansion's main door.

Version 1.05

  • Fixed mouse camera movement that could stutter or jump on high or uncapped framerates — the camera now moves smoothly regardless of frame rate. This was most noticeable on high-end GPUs.

  • The lobby Start button now reads "Continue" when you return to a session that's already in progress, to make it clear that your progress is saved. If you rejoin the same session with the same partner, your inventory, solved puzzles, and progress are all still there.

  • Fixed two localization issues where prompts for two doors in Act 3 were displayed in Spanish.

Version 1.04

  • Fixed the Russian localization, where Cyrillic characters were displayed incorrectly and made text unreadable.

  • Added support for ultrawide monitors.

  • Fixed a bug that could freeze the player's camera — forcing you to open and close the pause menu — when inspecting certain puzzles after rejoining a session.

  • Added ambient background music to Act 1.

Version 1.03

  • Fixed a serious bug that allowed doors meant to stay permanently sealed to be opened — passing through them could push the player out of the map.

  • Fixed an error that allowed the monocle to be equipped and used before it was first obtained in its corresponding puzzle.

Version 1.02

  • Adjusted several collision boxes to prevent the player from clipping through certain walls.

  • Fixed puzzle persistence in Act 2 where a completed puzzle could still appear as unsolved after rejoining a session — this also resolves a crash that could occur when trying to interact with it again.

Version 1.01

  • PerformanceFixed a bug that significantly impacted performance during Act 1.
  • PuzzleCorrected the second-floor combination journal, which was showing an incorrect combination for one of its puzzles.
  • PuzzleFixed incorrect information shown when solving the grandfather clock puzzle in Act 3.
  • PuzzleFixed a spelling error in the Act 3 library cryptex, where the expected answer was misspelled and did not match the intended solution.
  • GameplayFixed a bug that allowed a door meant to stay locked to be opened in the Act 2 art room.
  • SettingsFixed an issue that prevented players from selecting the lowest graphics quality option.

What's Next

We're not stopping here. Our ongoing roadmap includes:

  • A full pass on the game's audio to balance and level all sounds for a more consistent experience.

  • Continued ultrawide display improvements (camera field of view and UI refinements).

  • Continued performance improvements across the game.

Coming back for another look?

If you played at launch and ran into problems, the game is in a dramatically better state now. We'd love for you to jump back in and experience it the way it was meant to be played — and if your experience has improved, we'd be grateful if you'd consider revisiting your review. It makes a real difference for a small team like ours. Thank you for playing, and for being part of this journey with us. — The MediaCity Games Team
