Encrafted Beta 0.73.0 - 0.73.2

G'day everyone! Thank you so much for playing and enjoying the Encrafted demo!! It's been absolutely thrilling seeing the game reach more eyes than anything I've ever made before! I'll continue to update and improve the game as I pave the way to fully releasing it! Don't forget to add it to your wishlist if you like it, it helps a tonne!!!

This update doesn't add any new artefacts, but it does add many quality of life tweaks and fixes, along with a lot of fine balancing. More artefacts are coming, however!

Pinning recipes is here! You can now pin any entry in the crafting guide!

By pressing the pin button on an entry in the crafting guide, you can pin it to the top.

This also means that it will show outside of the crafting guide above your crafting slots, giving you a quick indicator of how close you are to making it! You can also select any material to bring up the guide filtered to that.

Quick sending materials to the crafting slots!

If you press the hammer icon in the guide for any entry that is ready to be crafted, it will move all of the materials into the crafting slots for you! Make sure to alter the order of materials used before you do it if your build requires it.

Suboptimal draw protection

Sometimes players would accidentally draw from the bag when they were intending to look inside of it, this is particularly frustrating if you have a mostly full inventory, and the resulting draw would be wasted by only giving you 1 or 2 materials.

To help with this, the magnifying glass has hat its detection zone significantly increased. On top of that, if you try and draw when it would result in a suboptimal bag pull, it will require you to hold it down instead of just tapping it.

This holding behaviour also applies to the new game menu if it would overwrite an existing run.

Challenge round intros

To make challenge rounds more obvious, and possibly a little menacing, there's now an intro title that shows which challenge round is starting. It's accompanied by a deep brass sound for extra terror.

Heaps of balancing

While the game was likely not too hard for most on the normal mode of the demo, it likely was pretty unforgiving on the "Tough mode". This is because I've balanced the game around the lower difficulties, and tough mode has a similar difficulty to that of difficulty VII of the base game. Several things have been strengthened or weakened depending on their relative usefulness.

Notably, re-rolls are now significantly cheaper for the first few shops (previous image is the first shop), before returning to their normal price. All positive spells including incinerate and duplicate are now also much cheaper, but will ramp up to their standard price as they are used.

The Revolve spell is now 5 essence instead of 8, because it has an opportunity cost already and doesn't guarantee the re-rolled challenge round won't also be a run killer.

Three materials (an egg, a banana, and a wheat) have been removed from the Picnic bag to slightly aid with RNG in pulling, but without making bag-fixing too easy.

As for artefacts:

Debut is now 1 weight to reflect its fleeting usefulness after the beginning of rounds.

Zero Gravity is also 1 weight now because it indirectly uses up a lot of weight just to be useful.

Nuclear waste, Fancy bread, and sugar strike were all too underpowered to be built around in higher difficulties, so they were all strengthened.

Banartefact has been brought down a tiny bit in scaling speed to stop it being such a crutch tool in higher difficulties.

Cannibal has been changed to eat half as often, but be slightly stronger to prevent it from being such a necessity to feed it.

Ritual has had its strengthen rate slightly increased to better line up with its commitment to do so.

Trophy, The Magician, Collector, and Arsonist have had their scaling rates reduces to line up with how easy they are to scale and how versatile their boosts are.

Inheritance has had a boost to make it a worthy choice compared to Crystal Ball for earning essence.

Nest Egg and Training have had their effects reduced slightly because of how easy they were to stack up value on materials.

Red Carpet has had its multiplier increased to make it worth clearing out the inventory to receive a boost only a handful of times per round.

Waxing Crescent has been slightly buffed to make it a more attractive option, but not too much to prevent it from returning to its previous glory as an absolute no-brainer of an artefact.

One Trick Pony has had a slight boost to make it worth building for.

Couch is extremely useful so it's had to receive a tiny hit to its chance to activate to prevent it from being SO good.

Another pretty big change is imbued materials now give double the essence bonus. This should hopefully make them worth going for when you want to maximise essence income.

The game will continue to be balanced and improved, if you have feedback let me know on the Discord or on the Steam Discussion Boards. :) New artefacts are coming!
