Azar Combat

Elohim Eternal II: Son of Man marks the first time in the series players will have access to and be able to customize their azars.

Azars are mecha—think gears from Xenogears or skells from Xenoblade Chronicles X. Azars are powerful weapons with their own unique mechanics separate from ground units.

Azar customization is more straightforward than with characters. You can upgrade your Azar’s attack core, armor core, and boost core to improve their attack, defense, and agility. Some cores will increase different types of attack or defense, like physical versus aether attacks and defenses.

You can also equip your azar with two programs. Programs provide the azar with additional skills outside of their astar abilities. Specifically, programs provide the azar with support or control skills, such as buffing azars, repairing azars, and debuffing enemy azars. Steam post image

Azars also have access to astar abilities. Each azar can learn all the astars available, but can only equip a fixed number of astar abilities. These abilities include physical attacks, aether attacks, super attacks, and shield-breaking attacks. There are various reasons for equipping different types of astars. For example, some astars may not provide much damage to the enemy but may increase tech points much faster, allowing you to then use a program or an aether attack that hits all enemy azars or hits one azar for high damage.

Astar skills mostly cost aether points, but some cost both aether points and tech points. Programs only cost tech points. Azars also have large amounts of aether points, but skills cost more to use. Luckily, azars can use charge to refuel their aether points.

Azar battles break up the combat mechanics of the game, providing something fresh to the experience. While most azar battles are story-driven, the player can challenge the azar arena where they will fight a series of increasingly difficult azar battles, putting to test their azar load outs.
