What changed
- Gameplay
When Electro Havoc launched into Early Access just over a year ago, it was one world, one enemy (affectionately known as The Shard), and a lot of experimentation. Launching a product from game jam prompt in mid-2023 to Early Access feedback in 2025 to now with a 1.0 Full Release has been a wild ride.
Real life took the wheel for big chunks of the last year -- day job, family, the usual. Most of 1.0 got built in 15-minute commits squeezed between everything else, with the occasional late night when I could swing it. But a year of community feedback, late-night balancing, and absurd leaderboard scores encouraged me to keep building and release more content. I want to extend a sincere thanks to the folks who showed up during Early Access, the ones who left feedback, and the leaderboard regulars.
Here are the broad strokes of what's getting released today:
- One world has become threethe original arena is still here, sharper than ever, and two new ones join it, each with its own rhythm.
There are six new enemy types: some hunt in packs, some create gravity vortexes, some split into smaller versions of themselves when you blow them up. All feature their own novel mechanics.
World 3 introduces boss mechanics: this is something I've always wanted to add to the game!
Your ship now has thrust capabilities: use these wisely as you may zip into a worse situation if you're not careful.
There's a whole lot more stats: for those min-maxers out there.
- Overhauled stats and achievements systemsto match the expanded game, new enemies, and gameplay mechanics.
The game also plays really well on handhelds, whether you're rocking Steam Deck, ROG Ally X, or something else. Steam cloud saves, achievements, and global and world-specific leaderboards are all there -- plus roughly a thousand small quality-of-life improvements.
This is the game I set out to build. I'll keep an eye on bug reports and patch as needed, but 1.0 is the finished version of Electro Havoc as I imagined it. Share your feedback in the Steam forums or on Bluesky.
See you on the leaderboards ❤️
