Eldervale Difficulty Selection Guide

Hi all! Finding the difficulty settings for the experience you're looking for may not be as obvious at times. I hope to help you with that in this guide.

You can change difficulty settings after saving and quitting to the Main Menu at any point during your playthrough. The current difficulty settings are shown in the Pause Menu during gameplay.

Combat

  • If you are new at third-person survival horror, like to fight everything you see or want to focus only on puzzles and exploration, consider Combat Easy.

  • If you want resource management to play an important part, like picking fights carefully and count those headshots, Combat Hard might be for you.

Puzzle

  • If you don't want to spend much time on puzzles and avoid the chance of being stuck while streaming or playing to complete the game quickly, choose Puzzle Easy.

  • If you already completed the game on other puzzle difficulties and want to be challenged with new riddles or don't mind potentially spending more time on them, Puzzle Hard got your back.

Special

This setting has the most influence on your playthrough, functioning similarly as a New Game+ feature.

  • Leaving the Special Difficulty setting on Normal is the intended experience for first-time players.

  • Choosing Special Hard is recommended for players who find the pacing a bit slow, for those that already completed the game, and for streamers.

  • Choosing Special Hard will enable a dozen different type of randomly occurring events. These random events range from helpful supplies to deadly traps and everything in between, making the game more challenging and unpredictable.

  • If you want a faster paced, more unpredictable and possibly scarier experience but don't mind the potentially uneven difficulty due to random events, Special Hard mode is for you!
