Hello dear Delverians, The demo update 0.3.1 is out today. And oh boy how much has changed since the demo was released. It almost feels bad to call this a minor update but I would like to reserve future version 0.4.

Repeated intro

Hello dear Delverians, The demo update 0.3.1 is out today. And oh boy how much has changed since the demo was released. It almost feels bad to call this a minor update but I would like to reserve future version 0.4.0 for when I release something even more impressive. So that needs to wait.

addedNew featuresA minimap , which you can now toggle from Gameplay menu to show which areas of the floor you have explored already.
addedNew features2 new biomes, one with ice theme and another with fire theme, to with new surprises to discover
addedNew featuresNew environmental interactions. The theme of the game is "Shape the dungeon, survive the unknown", so it was time to add more ways to actually use the dungeon against your enemies. Which can hopefully at times be more powerful than simply hitting them to head with a dagger.

New features

  • A minimap, which you can now toggle from Gameplay menu to show which areas of the floor you have explored already.

  • 2 new biomes, one with ice theme and another with fire theme, to with new surprises to discover

  • New environmental interactions. The theme of the game is "Shape the dungeon, survive the unknown", so it was time to add more ways to actually use the dungeon against your enemies. Which can hopefully at times be more powerful than simply hitting them to head with a dagger.

  • A new terrain power, hurl lightning at your foes and use it to interact with the environment

  • New enemies! Play to find out more!

Quality of life improvements

  • Projectiles! You encountered an archer or a mage who apparently was dealing damage to you but you couldn't tell how? Well now the game will actually show you what is being shot at you.

  • A toggle in Gameplay settings for skipping the Sigil drawing minigame! After you have finished the tutorial. I am still proud of how the sigil drawing lets people use their creativity, but I don't want to hold it against you if you don't enjoy drawing and naming your Sigils. So now you can receive default sigil shapes and names instead.

  • New font. The original font was starting to become hard to read for several playtesters, so I changed it.

  • Darker floor tiles. People didn't appreciate the game blinding their eyes whenever they tried to play the game, so now the walls and the floor have better contrast in general.

  • Blinking red effect indicating low player health.

  • Many, many bug fixes and usability flow improvements

Upcoming features

Now when the update is out, here is what I will be working on next:

  • ASCII mode. There has been an ask for more simple art style for hopefully increasing readability in the world. So I want to at least try to provide. As a solo developer I have to see how easy it will be to bend the terrain shaping into ASCII format but we'll see.

  • More bug fixes and balancing adjustments. As you play the game, any feedback that you can give will help me make Dungeons of Delveria that much better with every patch.

  • More content in form of new biomes, new enemies, more floors and new terrain powers.

  • More on theme items. I have mentioned them earlier but I would like to somehow redesign items so they would be less generic swords and daggers and more somehow related to the fantasy of shaping the dungeon.

  • More varied enemy behaviour. Less grunts and instead more enemies which have special functionalities.

That's all for now! Thank you for wishlisting and supporting Dungeons of Delveria. - Teemu from Delveria Games
