Dungeon Settlers is a unique dark fantasy strategy game that blends colony simulation with dungeon crawling. As the commander of an expedition sent by the Guild, your mission is to build and develop a settlement, train your members, and launch strategic assaults to conquer and ultimately destroy the dungeon—the root of all calamities.

To succeed, you’ll need both strategic combat and efficient settlement management. Before setting foot in the dungeon, you must recruit expedition members, develop their skills, craft equipment, and secure vital supplies like rations and camping kits. To survive in the barren wilderness, you’ll also need to cultivate fields, build bedrooms and dining halls, and construct forges and storage units with optimized layouts. Unlock new blueprints and structures through research, and trade or take on contracts by staying in contact with the Guild.

But even the best preparations won’t guarantee safety— Dungeon Settlers throws you against remnants of arcane experiments, including towering golems and acid-spitting monsters. The dungeon shifts each time, warping space and time. You may discover cursed trees that bear forbidden fruit in exchange for blood, or ancient libraries containing the pure essence of magic. Secure precious resources like wood, herbs, gemstone veins, and mysterious mandrakes. But be warned—not everything can be brought back. As the expedition leader, it’s up to you to decide how best to use what you've found to sustain and expand your settlement.

Below are some of the core themes that Dungeon Settlers focuses on:

Character Development

  • Six major abilities, talents, and dozens of combat/life-related stats form the foundation of your strategy

  • Unique traits based on race, background, personality, physical and spiritual conditions

  • A wide variety of skill trees with synergies, including sword, mace, greatsword, bow, and fire magic

  • Equipment, meals, and consumables crafted from resources found in the dungeon

  • Diverse combat effects and mechanics such as stun, bleed, burn, provoke, vulnerable, charge, summons, and more

  • A free-form building system with individually placed walls and doors, as well as structure rotation

  • Room category system that grants effects based on interior conditions (e.g., bedrooms, forges)

  • Task prioritization, consumption policies, and scheduling tools for efficient operation

  • Research system to unlock new recipes and structures

  • Mood system for managing morale and stress among members
