Dualis changes
The release of Dualis Episode Two is just around the corner! I'm continuing to work on the project, and in this post, I’d like to share its current state with you.
A little about the game for those who are not yet familiar with it: Dualis is a story-driven horror thriller that blends stealth action and survival horror mechanics, presented from an isometric perspective. It is being released episodically and is currently available in early access on Steam, with only the first episode out so far.
It’s been a while since the release of the first episode. Although the game wasn't a financial success, it received a warm and encouraging response from players. That feedback became my main motivation to continue development — despite the challenges and despite the financial aspect. Simply because this project is something that matters — both to me and, hopefully, to those who have already played it. With that in mind, I began working on Episode Two.
The development of Episode Two took longer than I initially expected, but it’s now nearing completion. Over this period, significant work has been done — not just on the new episode, but also on improving the first one. Here are the key areas that have been addressed:
Optimization improved: In some scenes, the framerate used to drop to 50–60 FPS. Now those same areas maintain a stable 80–120 FPS.
Difficulty balance adjusted: Many players noted that the finale of Episode One felt overly punishing. While Dualis isn’t meant to be easy, the difficulty should remain fair — and that balance has now been fine-tuned.
Minor bugs fixed: Including issues like broken door positions after reloads and similar small glitches.
- Save system improvedPreviously, certain items could occasionally disappear from the inventory — this has been corrected.
There’s still some polishing left to do, but development is actively ongoing. Big thanks to everyone who shared feedback, and a special thanks to $UpSkill$ for the detailed bug reports!
Now, a bit more about Episode Two: Just like in the first episode, players will explore two main locations. However, they are now slightly larger and much more visually diverse. The story also develops at a much faster pace — if the first episode unfolded very slowly, in the second one events will escalate much more rapidly. The gameplay will be expanded with new enemies, new puzzles, and the first boss fight in the game. Playtime for the first episode averaged about 40–60 minutes for a new player. I expect the second episode to take about the same amount of time, meaning the total playtime for the two chapters will be around 2 hours for new players. The release date for Episode Two is tentatively set for May 25, 2025. However, this may vary depending on circumstances. I will announce the final release date later, but I can assure you: any delay will not exceed two months.
Dualis exists because of your interest, support, and feedback. If you haven't added it to your wishlist yet, now’s the perfect time! You can also follow the updates to stay tuned for the release of Episode Two. Thank you to everyone who continues to support the project and its journey forward.
