🌿 Dryad Demo Update — New HUD, Controls & Gameplay Improvements
We’ve rolled out a major update focused on clarity, control, and overall gameplay feel. This update introduces a brand new HUD system, control refinements, and a variety of gameplay and visual improvements.
🧭 New HUD System
A fully redesigned HUD is now in place to improve readability and player awareness:
Dryad Health Bar (Top Right)
Task List (Top Right)
Dryad Energy Bar (Top Middle)
Boss Bar (Top Middle)
Island Stats
Hidden by default
Individual stats briefly fly out when values change
Alerts will stay visible when conditions are not met
Can be manually toggled on/off
Wisp Inventory (Bottom Left)
Item Details Window
Updated descriptions with clear buff/debuff indicators from traits
Hidden by default, toggle anytime
Target Details Window
Appears in-world when looking at a tile with an item
Toggleable like Item Details
Command Map (Bottom Right)
Displays all available actions at a glance
🎮 Control Updates
Root Action removed (LB Button / F Key)
Rooting the Dryad is now done by Bashing Panels and Enriched Dirt Tiles
Reduces mobility during travel
Rest Areas now provide ways to relocate the Dryad
View Details added (LB Button / F Key — Hold)
Displays Island Stats + Item Details
Cycle Left Items removed (LT Button / Q Key)
Rotate Item added (LT Button / Q Key)
✨ Wisp Controller Improvements
Added a subtle ledge boost when sliding along tile corners
Applies to all tile edges
Fixes corner jitter/sticking issues
Improves movement through tight spaces and 1-tile gaps
🎨 Visual & Content Updates
Added new relic icons with color-coded backgrounds
Improved enemy detailing
Completed missing animations
Added tiling variation and environmental details
🌱 New Item — Door Seed
Rewarded for completing the island-building tutorial (Prologue)
Grows into a door that opens/closes automatically
Provides both mobility and protection
Can be restored at Rest Areas
🌿 Plant Growth Changes
To improve consistency and usability:
All production plants now grow upwards only
Cluster Flower
Now grows 2 tiles upward instead of 3 tiles wide
Expanders
Vertical & Horizontal merged into one
Can now grow in any direction
🧪 Relic Updates & Balance
Uproot Mobility
Enrich dirt to move the Dryad once per round
Solar Temptation
Sunflowers capped at 3 (unless overridden)
Encourages optimal play patterns
Immortal Harvest
Moved to a later chapter
Autogenesis
Now increases Cluster Flower yield when fully grown
General relic balancing and tuning for better feel
🛠️ Additional Changes
Levels and tutorials updated to reflect new systems and mechanics
