The Overhaul Teaser Trailer

Today we’re revealing the first look at the upcoming overhaul for Drug Lord Tycoon. This update has been in development for a long time, and it's the most fundamental rework the game has seen. The teaser shows only a slice of what’s changing, but it should make the direction clear: the systems are deeper, the world is more grounded, and the foundation is finally strong enough for the future updates we want to deliver.

Early version Release Date: December 18

The early version of the overhaul will launch on December 18. This version is still in active development, and we’re releasing it early on purpose. It will contain bugs, incomplete systems, and areas that are still being tuned. But the underlying structure is significantly better than the legacy build, and delaying access would slow down both iteration and feedback.

If you're interested in seeing the overhaul evolve while we build it, or if you want to help shape the final version, this beta is for you.

There will be a dedicated feedback button in the game, please use it to let us know how you want the game to take shape!

A Temporary Limitation to Progression

The early version doesn't allow you to progress as far as you can in the current legacy version. That’s a direct consequence of the overhaul’s design: we rebuilt core systems first and left the late-game content for after the fundamentals were in place.

We think this trade-off is fair because the moment-to-moment gameplay, environment interaction, and production systems in the overhaul are already stronger than the older version. It’s a shorter experience for now, but it’s also a way better one.

What Comes After the Beta

The overhaul is the groundwork for a long pipeline of upcoming content. Some of what’s planned:

  • Additional drug types (Mushrooms, Meth, LSD, Cocaine)

  • The remaining distributors

  • Expanded production chains

  • More locations and scalable setups

  • Systems that weren’t feasible in the old architecture

What happens to the current version of the game?

Some of you may still wish to play your saves on the current version of the game, and therefore we are keeping this version in a legacy branch of the game.

To play it: Right click the game in your steam library>Properties...>Betas> and select the beta participation called "Legacy"

The beta won't up show before the 18.

Why Release the Beta Now?

Because the overhaul is large enough that working in isolation hurts development speed. Getting it into players’ hands helps us identify issues earlier, gather real usage data, and refine the systems before the full update lands. The beta will change rapidly, sometimes weekly, until it reaches feature parity with the legacy version and surpasses it.
