We had originally intended to fix a few bugs and tidy up the demo in time for Steam Next Fest, but we got a little carried away...

So now Drowning Ashes demo version 2.0.10 is here! This update represents a substantial overhaul of the demo, so even if you've played the previous version, there's plenty to see here.

In addition to a host of bugfixes, visual tweaks and balance improvements, the main changes include:

New Area: The Gatehouse Ruins

Perched between the Capital Outskirts and the Garden of Regret, the Gatehouse once served as the seat from which the King's Magisters oversaw the flow of travelers and goods into the Capital. Now mostly destroyed, the ruins are home to various Ash-starved monstrosities... as well as a few treasures awaiting an adventurer bold enough to claim them.

New Recruitable Monsters

Three new monster types have been added for you to find, defeat and recruit! You might have to do some searching to find them all, but they're out there.

New Weapon Skills

Many of the basic weapons you can find or purchase amidst the ruins of the Capital now grant special skills based on their weapon type. Axes, daggers, maces, staves and swords each have new abilities you can incorporate into your builds. Reserve EXP

Characters in your Reserve now gain Exp whenever you win a battle. While they won't get quite as much as your main party, the characters in your Reserve should at least level up fast enough to remain relevant in more dangerous areas.

Breakable Pots

If we're taking inspiration from soulslikes, there really should be some breakable pots in the game, and now there are! If you see an intact-looking pot or barrel, give it a whack and see what comes out! There are also plenty of other smaller changes, but you can discover those in-game!

Drowning Ashes is a game full of secrets and obscure lore, and the demo is no exception. So, for the completionists out there, we've decided to also include a little checklist of things you might have missed on a first playthrough. Demo Checklist - Have You..

  • Visited the Palace Dungeons?

  • Defeated the horrible creature North of the Capital Outskirts?

  • Stolen an angel feather?

  • Defeated the Blacksmith?

  • Defeated the Binder?

  • Had a stern talking-to from the villain of Guile & Glory: Firstborn?

Until next time... may your adventures in the Capital be Glorious!
