Greetings, Platform Managers!
The Board of Directors is pleased to share that the R’n’D Department of Drill Core Inc. has been hard at work in developing new technologies to better improve Platform Managers’ profits ‘working conditions’.
New Specialists
The ‘HR Department’ has finalised their new Specialist initiative, and you will now find yourself able to recruit one of four Specialists at the beginning of each mining operation. Each will have their own unique abilities to greatly enhance your profits results, so choosing the correct Specialist depending on the objective will be paramount to the success of the contract.
You’ll unlock these Specialists through both gaining relevant Oversight Department experience and selecting them through your Upgrade console, and will be able to select them alongside your Platform Presets before beginning a new contract.
Please note that any Specialists killed during the course of a contract will not be able to be recruited again. The HR Department referenced something about the ‘value’ of workers.
Expansion of Oversight Departments
Due to the recent hiring incentives of the Oversight Departments at Drill Core Inc., they have now greatly expanded in their running of day-to-day operations. Each Oversight Department now boasts its own Department Head, so that when you select the relevant Oversight Department for your current contract, they will be able to provide you with 3-5 Department Bonuses for that particular contract. We look forward to seeing how this improves both your mining operations and your profits, Platform Managers!
Distortions
The R’n’D Department has also discovered a new type of block that seems to be appearing in all biomes; they’ve coined the term ‘Distortion Blocks’ to describe these, as they seem to cause distortions in reality that could easily impact mining operations. There have been 25 Distortions discovered, and each will come with its own bonus and malus, so you’ll want to be careful in strategizing which one is right for your contract…for example, the Thick Bark Distortion increases Core durability to +25%, but also gives all underground enemies +100% HP; the Overclocked Coils Distortion increases Turret fire rate by 70%, but also gives each of them a 5% chance to overheat and shut down for 5 seconds after each shot.
These new Distortions are currently subject to further research, but we expect to have more to share with you as soon as the R’n’D Department is appropriately incentivized soon!
New Technologies and Upgrades
Steam post image
Astute Platform Managers will also soon notice that a new Laboratory branch will be available from the central console; this new set of technologies will introduce brand new ways to build and drill during your operations, including the ability to drill through resolite.
You’ll also notice that there are around 60 new permanent upgrades to unlock, giving you more ability than ever to profit for the company work efficiently! To accommodate these upgrades effectively, there will also be 10 new difficulty levels for the most seasoned of Platform Managers to challenge themselves with. Stay safe, Drill Core Inc. still doesn’t offer medical insurance!
You’ll also be able to build up to 6 of the same building or turret, to help deal with these new challenges.
Naturally, this far from encompasses everything that the R’n’D Department is working on, but we look forward to sharing further information when these updates go live on April 28.
