Repeated intro
Hello gamers, we have a huge update for you all! In May, about 2 months from now, a massive Demo v2.0 update is coming and it's not just a typical small update. It's a complete overhaul bringing many improvements, changes, and new gameplay elements. Think of what you'd expect from an Early Access title, as it adds significant depth to the current demo, making it at least twice the amount of content.
What changed
- Gameplay
- Server
- UI and audio
- Store
- Workshop
Before we dive deeper into this update's new gameplay systems, here are some changes worth mentioning first:
From this demo update onward, the game will have a very high quality first person model and animations.
Even on high ping, most interactions will feel significantly smoother, with major improvements to network lag and delay.
We removed the fish eye effect from the camera, which was causing nausea for some players. While it did add a touch of realism, the FOV now feels much better and motion sickness is no longer an issue.
We also removed the old grungy post-process effect that was tiring on the eyes. The game now has much more color definition and is less tiring on the eyes.
The overall environment is now much more polished, with many new background elements added throughout the abyss.
On low FPS, mic audio would sound robotic, and in singleplayer, downed players were unable to switch items resulting in a soft lock. All of these critical bugs have been fixed.
Many more minor improvements and changes were made but aren't worth listing here, so let's get into the cool stuff. Here is what's coming in the new Demo v2.0 update and full game release:
Monsters can now destroy doors, so players can no longer cheese by repeatedly closing doors in the monster's face to keep it permanently locked in place.
Destructible objects are now scattered around the map that are very satisfying to smash. Once destroyed, they drop slot machine tokens which can be used at the slot machine to purchase support items such as revive kits and health potions, as well as progress items like keys. These items no longer spawn directly in the map.
We know the game was already on the difficult side for many players and these changes make it even harder, but let's get into the cool new things players can do to help them survive:
-Players can now rebuild destroyed doors and other defenses using the new "Hammer" tool.
-Introducing the first ever player skill item arriving in this demo update: "All Seeing Eye". When used, it reveals the aura of any players or monsters within a 10 degree radius of where the user is looking, making them visible to the entire team. But beware, if you look at the monster for too long, it can see you too.
-New tool item: "Sandman's Clock" Once used, it reverses time for the user.
-New tool item: "Sandman's Ring." When used, it makes the user invisible to the nightmare dimension by shifting them into a hidden dimension, but be careful as monsters that normally couldn't see you now can.
Now let's talk about new gameplay objectives coming in the full release. Meet the "Oracle's Crystal," an item that lets you peer into the hidden dimension and search for clues. The second puzzle section is centered entirely around the hidden dimension.
Puzzle section 3 is all about capturing monsters instead of running from them, full on Pokemon style! We don't have anything to showcase just yet, so stay tuned on our Discord server for future updates.
Final words: our demo started as a humble beginning, but thanks to you all who played and supported it, we have reached over 500K demo players and 100K wishlists. You have given us the motivation to make this game as great as it can be. We promise that on full release we will deliver the best product possible, and we truly believe the full game is shaping up to be something very special and unique. Although many new gameplay elements and changes are coming, all the original demo content will still be there.
See you all in May with the Demo v2.0 update! We hope you enjoy it and share your feedback once it drops, as your feedbacks can really help us make the full release as good as it can be.ːsteamhappyː
